Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/20/15

I’m writing early today, because Jacob and I are going to watch the Raiders take on the Packers at the Oakland Coliseum and we may not make it back. The crowd at the Oakland Coliseum has been known to be a bit unruly. Go Raiders!!

Went in to see Ryan and the nurse told me he’d been awake since three this morning and therefore was a bit restless. He could have fooled me, because as soon as I entered the room Ryan closed his eyes and made like a Roley Poley bug. Please pray he gets some rest today, and also that he’ll stop rubbing his tongue on his teeth causing it to become raw and bleed. Thank you.

Have an awesome day on and with purpose!

Wife: I love you!

Husband: I love you too.

Wife: Prove it. Scream it to the world.

Husband: (whispers in her ear) “I love you.”

Wife: Why did you whisper it?

Husband: Because you are my world!

Remember to tell those you love that you do…and often. You never know if/when you may get another opportunity…

I love you all!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/18/15

What miracles did y’all witness today? If you said none, then you didn’t have your eyes open, cause they happen all around us all the time. Some, however, you can’t see because they’re performed by secret angels watching over you, so if you said none, then I’ll cut you some slack…this time. But tomorrow I want some solid examples…

We praise God that Ryan’s had a few good days in a row now, which leads me to believe the antibiotics they had him on up until this past Tuesday were the cause of his discomfort. The doctors wanted to be proactive when we brought him in a week ago because of his history with pneumonia, even though the test results from x-rays that were taken came back negative. That’s why they call what they do a practice. They practice medicine. Well, I hope they practice perfectly a lot so the can get it right, because perfect practice makes perfect…

Stay dry tonight…(it’s raining here). Thank you Lord for the much needed rain…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/17/15

Praise God! Ryan is feeling much better today. His color is good, temp normal, less restless, etc. I’d say it’s probably because his brother has come home from college for winter break, but know that isn’t the entirety of it. That said, thank you all for your extra prayer support these past couple of weeks. We all hurt when our children hurt, and it’s especially nice to have the added support from our friends when we need it most. God is still working in and through Ryan, and we’re thankful for His allowing us to see and be part of many special “moments” throughout the day, which reveal His masterful plan made manifest. Continue to look for them in your lives. They are there, and they will amaze you!

Habakkuk 3:2  LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

Once in a lifetime moments happen every moment…

I’ll be sure to let everyone know how Ryan is doing with the communication device as soon as we have some significant results…and/or not. Right now, Ryan is shutting down a little as we attempt to engage him in its use. He does have a shut down mode when he’s uncomfortable with people, or perhaps even frustrated. We’ll continue to gently introduce the device on a daily basis until we can get him to open up to the idea on a consistent basis. In the meantime, we will make sure he is comfortable and tell him how much we love him…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/15/15

By no means is the following a sophisticated (or even accurate) description of something we are trying with Ryan…

We’ve been loaned a device (computer program/pc…blah blah blah) called a Tobii Dynavox (Look it up. It’s cool.), which tracks eye movement as a way to communicate, in hopes of communicating with Ryan. The PC is placed in front of the patient (in this case, Ryan), and is calibrated to track eye movement in his field of vision. The calibration was successful! In other words, Ryan was able to track a dot that moved randomly across the screen (up, down, sideways, etc.). Now that we know Ryan can track a dot, we are hoping we’ll be able to ask him simple questions, to which he’ll be able to respond by looking at the appropriate answer/response/box. We’ve set up some pretty easy response squares, if you will; the first of which is a simple “YES” square and “No” square. You get the idea…

Ryan’s been sick since we’ve had the device, so we’ve not been able to use the device much. His therapist used it today, but the results were mixed. He seemed too tired to utilize it properly.

Please continue to pray that Ryan will get over whatever has been ailing him these past couple of weeks…and ultimately that he’ll be healed completely. We’d at least like him to be healthy enough to see if this device will work.

How exciting would it be, at the very least, to be able to communicate with him?!?!?

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/14/15 SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST

We are so blessed to have many pray for Ryan on a daily basis. A couple that goes to our church are two of those people, and they need prayer for their daughter Janet. While performing surgery to remove cancer, doctors found more cancer, and therefore Janet will need to start chemotherapy very soon. Will you please join us in praying for Janet; that God will remove all the cancer from her body and restore her to brand new…and that He will cover her and her family with peace and comfort?

Thank you all for being the most wonderful support group anyone could ask for. We are grateful to have you in our corner…

The reason why dogs don’t live as long as people according to a 6-year old…

“People are born so they can learn how to live a good life. Like, loving everybody all the time, and being nice. Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

In my book, these are definitely words to live by…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/12/15

Anyone who knows me, knows I love this time of year. But, I can do without decorating the entire house. I mean, who likes getting glitter all over themselves? It’s gonna take weeks for me to get it off of my face, out of my hair and clothes…Bah Hum Bug!!

On a brighter note, Ryan is doing much better, thank you very much.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! :~)

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/11/15

After a couple days of antibiotics Ryan’ temperature is coming down, but it still is not where it should be. Hopefully, he’ll be back to normal stats tomorrow…

Since it’s been somewhat of an exhausting week for us, I thought I’d end with some lightheartedness…

“I just did a week’s worth of cardio after walking into a spider web.”

“I hate it when I gain ten pounds for a role and then realize I’m not even an actor.”

“If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive, they would eventually find me attractive.”

“I should run for political office just to see what kind of scandalous dirt they dig up. It would be nice to piece together my twenties.”

” A recent study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who mention it.”

“I’m really into Crossfit. I cross my fingers and hope I can fit my but in those jeans.”

And on that note…’night everyone!
