Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/15/16

Ryan wants to wish his mom safe travels on her business trip to India. That’s right, we’ll be bach’in it for nine days while she’s gone. Whoo hoo! Actually, we’ll miss her tremendously. Who’s gonna cook for us? Clean up after us? Looks like TV dinners are on the menu for a while. We’ll leave the mess for when she comes back…And then I woke up…

Please pray for Janine as she travels.

Oh! Ryan says not to eat the hamburgers there. You don’t know what they’re made of…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/14/16

It’s the last season of American Idol, and I must say it’s had a good run and I’ll probably miss it; although I do like The Voice better. I remember Ryan competing in Orinda Idol and I was and am so proud of his humble and excellent performances. He was such a talented musician…much better than I was at his age, and I know once he is healed that he’ll be so much better than I have ever dreamed of being. I miss his voice and overall musical talent. He’s probably singing to God all the time, and I wish I could be a fly on the wall in heaven…

Psalm 5:11   But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/13/15

I hope at least one of y’all faired better than I did in tonight’s Super Lotto drawing. I got a few numbers, but none were in the same row. Oh well, it was fun to dream about things I would do if I were to win ~$1.5 Billon (with a B). One of the first things I would’ve done would go to the nearest Jack-In-The-Box and bought everyone in there a round of tacos. But alas, that won’t be happening anytime soon. Aren’t JIB tacos the best?

So, did y’all happen to catch a glimpse of the crescent moon tonight? Pretty beautiful if you ask me. God’s creation never ceases to amaze me. Speaking of amazing…I’ll let you fill in the blank, cause I know y’all can think of at least on amazing thing God did for you, or allowed you to witness, today.

Ryan wants to wish you all a good night’s sleep. Sweet dreams, and may tomorrow be filled with nothing butlove and peace…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/12/16

The hard drive on my laptop decided to crash a few days ago, and therefore, I’ve not been able to post anything during that time; or so I thought. Turns out, I can use another computer…who woulda thunk? Not me cause I’m a dork. So, here I am again. Did you miss me? NOT!! I missed you all though…

Ryan’s been doing well despite his father’s declining mental condition…not that there was much mental there to begin with. He and I watched the NCAA Football Championship game last night between Alabama and Clemson. Was hoping Clemson would win, but happy it was an entertaining game. After that, we watched the Warriors beat the Heat. How ’bout dem Warriors, huh?

We’re still testing the Tobii Dynavox eye tracking device to see if we can communicate with Ryan, but haven’t been able to gather much data because he tires easily and decides to “shut down” after only a couple of minutes. The good news is, we know he can track a moving object; so that’s a very good start. Now if we can only get him to focus and try long enough, we’ll be able to see if he can comprehend simple “yes/no” questions that we ask him. If you’d like a better explanation of what I’m trying to convey, you can always look up Tobii Dynavox and see what it’s all about. Technology is pretty amazing…even though I’m too stupid to be able to use it to its fullest potential…

Have a wonderful rest of the day on and with purpose!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/8/15

Thank you to all who prayed for my friend Mr. Thornton. Unfortunately, he passed away last week. If you’d like, you can pray for the Thornton family…for their peace and comfort during this time…and beyond…

Went in to visit Ryan just now, and he is doing well; getting ready to go to sleep for the night. So, I kissed him and said goodnight. I remember when he was a toddler. He’d be in bed, and I knew he was tired, but he never wanted to go to sleep. So, I would close my eyes and pretend that I was asleep, and after about 5 minutes he’d be out. If I opened my eyes before 5 minutes, he’d stay awake for another 5 minutes. It was a game of sorts…one that he was good at, and would win most of the time. I say he’d win, because when you look at my face, you can tell I lost a lot of beauty sleep from losing…

That said, goodnight all. I’m going to get some much needed beauty sleep…not that it will help any…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/7/15

We will continue to pray for Ryan’s complete healing and recovery until God tells us to do otherwise. Therefore, we will watch for the miracle of his healing…and based on the lessons we’ve learned from this season, will never stop watching and looking for the daily displays of God’s miraculous works in every facet of our lives. I wholeheartedly encourage y’all to do the same. It’s an incredible thing to see His tapestry being woven together…and being a part of it…

All Glory to God on High!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/6/15

Lots of rain today…much needed rain…and turning to snow in the mountains; making for a good start to ski season. Reminds me of how fun it was watching the boys learn how to ski/snowboard and eventually get better than me; something that came rather quickly. I remember the first time Ryan got on skis. By the third or fourth run up the tow rope and down the bunny run, he was going on the chair lift with his mother. I was teaching Jacob how to snowboard because he didn’t want to ski (that’s Jacob for you, always wants to do something different). He was ready for the chair lift after about an hour’s worth of instruction. After that, they just kept getting better and better. I love the rain and snow…

We praise God for the comfort of our home. It’s keeping us dry and warm right now. I pray for those less fortunate, who don’t have the shelter that I sometimes take for granted. I pray God will provide shelter and comfort to them…

Psalm 46:1   God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/5/15

If you haven’t done so already, I highly recommend you read “The Shack” by Wm. Paul Young. It’s an easy and inspiring read about our interaction with God…and His unconditional love and grace toward us. I’ll be reading it again (I know, anyone who knows me knows I seldom read, and your jaw is most likely on the floor right now), and highlighting the many passages and nuggets that speak to my heart; and there are many. I’m sure it will speak to your heart as well…

Ryan’s had another good day. Grandma Sandy skillfully applied her physical therapy techniques this morning, and he casually took it in stride. He’s been resting comfortably the rest of the day, and hopefully healing; albeit a lot more slowly than I would like…but patience is the virtue practiced around here…for the most part.

Have a wonderful evening and week on and with purpose!

Ryan Miracle Watch 1/4/15

Janine and I have switched nights watching Ryan for at least the month of January because I have practices for a Mr. Holland’s Opus-type concert for my first ever music teacher the first week in February. Ryan and I have been watching the food channel (are we ever drooling for some of the food we’ve seen) and are now enjoying the Warriors game against the Hornets. Even though the Warriors are 31 and 2, they are only a couple of games ahead of the Spurs who are off to the best start in their own history. Nothing is ever certain, so the Warriors must take care of business. So, is there any difference between what they need to do, and what I need to do…besides the money. We can only take care of what is ours to take care of…Or God’s…

Matthew 11:30   For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/3/15

Just another day in the rear view mirror…

Ryan’s been on his best behavior these past several days. How many of you can say that about your kids? Ha ha! Many of you…I know. The reason I know that is because many have come to visit Ryan over the years, and they are wonderful people…truly the result of being raised by terrific parents…

Was supposed to rain today, but didn’t; although it looked like it was going to come down pretty hard. Perhaps tomorrow it will. I sure hope it’s not too blustery of a day, but welcome more rain as we still need a whole lot of it.

May God shower many blessings upon you all!
