Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/21/16

INVINCIBLE   adjective:   incapable of being overcome or subdued

Isaiah 41:13   For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Romans 8:31   What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

With a God like this on our side, it’s pretty hard not to feel invincible…

Lord, Thank you for being there for us. Amen

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/20/16

Lord, Please watch over Ryan and our household while Janine and I are away this week on business. Keep your hand upon him, and upon his caregivers. And if it be your will, please heal him completely so that when we return, we can dance and sing and kill a fatted calf or two…

Genesis 28:15   I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/19/16

How many of you would like to live forever?

1 John 2:17   The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Pretty simple choice if you ask me…

Ryan’s been having great days…and by great, I mean no issues whatsoever…that is, except for his predicament. I know I don’t have to ask y’all to continually pray for his complete healing, because I know you do. So, I would ask that you pray that God would continue to reveal Himself to us daily as you remember Ryan. The fact that I get to enjoy Ryan’s presence daily has made me realize that I also get to enjoy God’s presence daily…

And He walks with me, and He talks with me…

My Recent Brush with Death…or should I say Brushes?

Was supposed to cover this topic yesterday, but got distracted by the green holiday…

Anyway:

Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 59:2   But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

To be separated from God is to be dead. If the wages of sin is death, then to sin means you are separated from God. I sin several times a day, but when I do I repent. Therefore, I have several brushes with death every day. It’s a good thing that God is forgiving; kinda like a big defibrillator…

1 John 1:9   If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/17/16

I’m finally over whatever it was that had me down. And not too soon, because it’s my day to watch Ryan. He and I are sitting in the room being quite for the moment, but I’m sure it’ll get all rowdy up in here soon enough…

Finnegan, drunk as usual, walked into the church confessional. The priest waits and waits for Finnegan to say something. Finally, the priest pounds on the wall of the confessional box.

“Ain’t no us in knocking.” Finnegan yells back, “There’s no paper on this side either!”

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Everyone!!

Now, try to say “Irish Wristwatch”…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/16/16

Today, I finally got to hug Ryan for the first time since last week. It felt good to hold him in my arms and tell him how much I love him…

So continuing on last night’s thought…

I suppose the reason Christ’s life continues to have impact is because the story is still being told; the book is still being written. And you know something, there will be no end, because eternity has no end. Who thinks of this stuff? Oh yeah! God does. Simply brilliant! Or, fantastically, unbelievably, spectacularly brilliant!!

Does the “happily ever after” you read in books have the same meaning or connotation that living in eternity with Christ has?

I scare myself sometimes. There’s a stroke of genius in here somewhere. Or, maybe I’m just having a stroke. There’s gotta be a nugget of truth in there somewhere. Nugget may be too large. Perhaps crumb or spec is more accurate…

Tomorrow night’s topic: My Recent Brush with Death…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/15/16

Alone with my thought:

Why do you suppose the impact of Christ’s life has remained a vibrant topic of discussion (relevant) for 2000 plus years? Is it because people read their Bibles or tell the story every day? I doubt many do that. Since when does a single person, event or book dominate the headlines for more than a week, a year, decades or even a few hundred years…much less thousands? Most people remember what happened on 9/11/2001 every year on it’s anniversary date. But, I would say that most people don’t give it a single thought the rest of the year. And, those who were around then will remember when man first set foot on the moon. People remember the Holocaust, the rise and fall of Constantinople, the creation of the internet, the development of the Polio Vaccine, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Hitler, Christopher Columbus, etc. etc. etc. But with the exception of Christ’s life, have any of the aforementioned events and/or people had as much impact on yours and my life?

I believe the answer to my initial question is that Christ’s life has had an impact all these years because of Him being revealed in people’s lives every moment of every day. People like Ryan, who I visit most every day. People like you. People like me. We constantly see God’s hand in our lives all the time; or at least we feel Him if we don’t actually see Him. I see Christ in many people I come into contact with on a daily basis. I see God at work in a lot of people; in their actions, in their non-actions in what they say and don’t say. I’ve seen transformed lives…including my own.

Continue to look around you and you will see God at work. You will see miracles happening. This is how Christ’s impact will live on until the day He returns.

God is alive and well…and at work. He is the same yesterday, today and He’ll still be the same tomorrow. Believe it! And, you will be saved!!

NOTE: Please don’t get distracted by my very incomplete thought. It’s missing a lot of details, but at it’s core is some truth.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/14/16

Ryan joined us in the living room this afternoon to watch a bit of TV. He seemed to enjoy an episode of Impractical Jokers. Funny thing is, Janine and I laugh to think that we could actually see Ryan and his friends doing something like this. Brings to mind the Spanish video he and his classmates did one year. Check it out in the Media section of this site; in particular right around the 7:45 minute mark. Another funny video is the last one where he and a friend are playing the piano. I wish we’d taken more videos of the kids being funny, because they were…and still can be sometimes…

Job 8:21   He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

Really? Laughter in the book of Job?

Yeah. Really…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/13/16

I’ve been under the weather since returning from my business trip last Thursday, so other than poking my head in the door to say hello, I really haven’t been able to spend any quality time with Ryan. Please pray that this nasty cold/achy body will go away soon so I can see my boy up close and personal.

On second thought, maybe Ryan’s been doing well because I haven’t been able to go in to see him. Even though he’s out of his teen years, he still confuses the heck out of me. Ha ha.

In any case, I so look forward to when I am able to go in and give him a great big hug. These arms miss hugging him…

Psalm 33:22   May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/12/16

Each person we come in contact with in life (and I’m talking more than just a simple brush upon the shoulder as you pass by them) makes some sort of impression upon us; adding something to the person we are/become. There aren’t many people in my lifetime that have made more of an impression upon me than my sons; Ryan and Jacob. I know those of you that have children will agree. Even in his current state, Ryan continues to make a huge impression upon me, and I know that there are many out there who are still being impacted by him.

Please continue to pray for his complete healing; and more importantly that God will use him to reach people for Christ and His glory…

I am amazed! that God has used him in the way that He has, and fall on my knees in worship and praise!!
