Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/30/16

Twas a beautiful Spring day today, and Ryan and I partied all day long. Okay, that’s not true. We actually chilled. It’s just what the doctor ordered. We’re saving our energy for tomorrow. After all, we’ve only got one day before the Mrs. comes back home…

Psalm 62:8   Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Lord, I trust your plan. I trust your timing. I trust in You…Amen

Ryan and I will be home alone for the weekend, as Janine is out gallivanting somewhere with Jacob down in SLO. I trust them though, because her parents will be with them chaperoning. Can’t say they can trust Ryan and I though…

1 Corinthians 13:7   Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

All is well in the Buchanan household this evening. We’re lounging around now, resting from the day’s activities, that included waking up (thank you Lord for another day), eating breakfast (thank you Lord for the nourishing food), working (thank you Lord for your provision), working out (thank you Lord for our health), watching over Ryan (thank you Lord for our son), praying for both our boys (thank you Lord for our sons), eating some more (again, thank you Lord for the nourishing food), etc. etc. etc. (thank you Lord for the bounty you’ve bestowed upon us). Thank you Lord!

Ephesians 2:4-5   But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Unlike the content in yesterday’s post, this is no joke…

Thank you Lord for loving us so much!

Please pray for my family as I am away on business for a few days. Please pray that they will find someone to prepare their food for them, draw their bath water, clean and fold their clothes, cater to their every need and tuck them into bed each night. Oh wait! That’s what we pray for when Janine’s away on business. They’re probably partying the night away with me gone…

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: ”Ugh, that’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen!” The woman walks to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: ”The driver just insulted me!” The man says: ”You go up there and tell him off. Go on, I’ll hold your monkey for you.”

There was a man who entered a local paper’s pun contest.. He sent in ten different puns, in the hope that at least one of the puns would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.

A three-legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to the bar and announces: ”I’m looking for the man who shot my paw.”

I tried water polo but my horse drowned.

Ba dum bum…I needed a good laugh today…

2 Peter 1:3-8   His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Just got home from working out and read Gretchen’s verse for the day. How fitting, as it somewhat parallels what I’m trying to accomplish by working out (getting healthier, stronger, gaining stamina, etc.) and how one becomes an effective and productive child of God. To become better at anything, one must apply him/her self. God’s already given us everything we need for a godly life. Now, it’s up to us to make every effort to add to our faith; build those muscles. If we exercise (run with perseverance), read (God’s Word), practice, sweat a little, eat the right food (the Bread of Life), even just a little bit each day, the results will come. Each day we choose to make time for certain things. Make sure to choose the right things to make time for…

Now I get to go watch Ryan for the evening. He’s someone I love making time for…

Thank you for the verse Gretchen!!

RYAN

Planted a garden today with all of Ryan’s favorite vegetables. Not really sure if he has any favorite vegetables, but I planted them for him nonetheless. I do know his favorite foods are garlic bread and Dungeness crab sandwiches. That’s gotta earn me some points, doesn’t it?

When I went in to visit him today, he was listening to his music and had the most pleasant smile on his face. He was so relaxed. I didn’t want to disturb him, so I just observed…

Sleep well my son…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/23/15

Got the soil ready to plant a garden tomorrow. It’ll be the first time in years I’ve been able to plant one; you know, with the drought and all it’s been tough. Will plant tomatoes, zucchini, collard greens, cucumbers, green beans, etc. No lima beans, though. Yuck! We’re very fortunate to have children that eat their vegetables; well most of them anyway. They don’t always like them, but when you use a plunger to force them down their throats, they do eat their vegetables. Just sayin’…

Proverbs 15:17   Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.

First David Bowie, and now Prince. When will it end? It’ll end when God decides it’s time. Until then, more famous talented people will die…and so will a lot of other non-famous people who are talented in their own right. It’s up to us to pray for and tell them about Jesus before it’s their turn to go…
Before Jesus departed to His heavenly throne to take His position as Lord and Christ, He spent a final time with His eleven disciples. The last command that He gave them was this: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 18:19-20

Here we go Warriors! Here we go! Clap! Clap!

Ryan and I are getting set to watch game three of the Warriors vs. the Rockets. No Steph Curry tonight (for the second straight game), but we’re not worried; are we Ryan?

It’s been a very nice week with temps in the 70’s and 80’s, but it looks like it’s about to change. Looked outside just now, and the rain clouds are blowing in…a welcome sight being we can still use the water. Rain down on us Lord! Reign down on us!

Exodus 15:18   The LORD shall reign forever and ever.
