Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/20/16 Makeup

No, not the kind of makeup one wears on his/her face. I’m talking making up for the lack of post yesterday. I was up in the mountains, and the WiFi system I was using froze up on me. Therefore, no post yesterday. So, I’ll make up for it now; not that any of you care…

Was on a business trip up in NorCal; otherwise known as God’s country. Actually, everywhere is God’s country, so I have no idea why I called it that, other than the beauty of Mt. Shasta glistening in the afternoon sun is one of the most spectacular sites I’ve ever had the pleasure of gazing upon. At 14,500+ feet, it rises majestically into the sky as if to enthusiastically say “Hey! Look at me! Look what God’s made!” And you know something, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what it’s saying…

Romans 1:20  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Luke 19:37-40    When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

As much as I like Mt. Shasta shouting “Look what God’s made!”, I think I’d better not keep quiet, or some other things may start shouting as well…like a rock. That wouldn’t be good…

So before our internet goes out again, here’s a post for today…

It’s starting to feel like summer, even though Spring has just begun. Today’s high here in Orinda was in the mid 70’s, which was actually about 10 degrees less than it was yesterday; but a beautiful day nonetheless. We’re grateful Ryan continues to seem comfortable. Praise God we have air-conditioning to keep his room at the right temperature allowing us to keep him that way!

Please pray for those in this world who don’t have many of the conveniences we often take for granted…

2 Corinthians 4:18   “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

So, the absence of a post last night was not due to exhaustion on my part. Our internet was out. Fortunately, as you can see, it is back on, and therefore I can post away again…not that any of you care to read my babble. Again, this page is about Ryan, and keeping a journal (of sorts) for his benefit to read when he gets better…In Jesus’ Name!

What would have been posted last night was a Happy Birthday shout out to Janine! Ryan wanted to wish her the happiest birthday ever, and let the whole world know how much he loves his mom. I benefited from her birthday as well, because I got to watch Ryan during what would normally be her shift. Ryan and I watched the Stephencurryless Warriors beat up on the Rockets, going up two games to none in the best of seven first round of the playoffs. All in all, it was a good day, and we thank our Lord and Savior for it…

Oh to be young again…

I was so exhausted from the mental and physical stress of chainsawing (wasn’t a legitimate word until now) and hardwood floor laying on Saturday and Sunday, that I completely spaced on yesterday’s update and went to bed early. Please forgive me. Now, my mental/physical stress is nowhere near that which any player on the Warriors’ team has experienced or is experiencing throughout this season, or what Ryan’s been going through the past several years, but it’s exhausting nonetheless. God never gives us more than we can handle, and thank goodness He doesn’t, because I’m pretty sure I couldn’t handle anymore. I admire the Warriors, and even more so Ryan, for being able to endure a lot more than I ever could. I don’t know where the Warriors will end up in the standings at the end of the playoffs, but I do know Ryan is on THE VICTORIOUS TEAM!

PICTURE CAREFUL NOW

Finally got the nerve up to get back on the horse after 5 years. A bit of trepidation quickly dissipated with a quick tug on the handle followed by the smell of two-stroke fuel mixture. Managed to remain intact after four hours of hacking away at some very dense tree trunks/limbs and a well-worn hot tub. An invigorating yet exhausting day…both mentally and physically…

Glad to be home where it’s pleasantly quiet, allowing me to hum along monotoningly (yes, it is a word…now) with the ringing in my ears…

ABSOLUTE   adjective:   perfect or complete or pure, complete and without restriction or qualification; sometimes used informally as intensifiers

Ryan was an absolute joy watching Ryan last night. And, I think he was genuinely happy to have me watching him, because he smiled a good portion of my shift. I would talk to him, and he’d turn his eyes toward me and smile. I’d tell him a dumb dad joke (you know the dorky kind), and it seemed like he was laughing…whether or not it was at me or with me, is yet to be determined, but I’ll take it.

Anyway, can you tell I had a great time with him? Every parent should feel this way about their children…

I pray that those of you who do, enjoy what I’ve been enjoying all these years. And for those who don’t have children, that you will feel the joy of anyone who’s fortunate enough to be around you…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/14/16

It was incredible to be at the record-breaking Warriors game last night! And WOW, the excitement, posts and celebrations before, during and after the event were many and jubilant to say the least. What a terrific accomplishment!

God’s accomplishments deserve at least that kind of hype, don’t you think?

I’m looking forward to spending a quiet evening with Ryan. I’ll certainly share the excitement of being at last night’s game, and also the excitement of God’s promises for him…us…

May God be gracious to you; allowing you to see His plan unfold, as He has allowed me to…

Psalm 25:4   Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/13/16

A couple of days ago, I received the following note in response to one of my posts.

“Everyday  is  a  new  day…each  day  is  a  miracle…be  patient  and  enjoy  the wonders  before  you…you  are  part  of  the  plan…the  odd’s  of  you  being  here without  having  been  chosen  and  protected  are  ZERO.

Dial  your  sensitivity  to  maximum  and  LISTEN  with  all  of  your  given  senses.

There  will  be  a  FINAL  CRITIC  so  be  prepared.”

Thank you Mike. Such truths are worth sharing…

Jeremiah 1:5a   Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…

John 15:1-17  “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another…

Janine got us tickets to the Warriors’ game tomorrow night. If/when they win, they’ll have the all-time best season record with 73 wins. It’s going to be a very exciting game to watch, as Memphis has been giving them a run for their money each time they play. Look for us court-side cheering on our favorite team. We won’t actually be court-side, but you can look for us there if you want to. Ever been on a snipe hunt?

We took Ryan to a Warriors game when he was two. We just held him on our laps. He was such a good little boy, and we enjoyed taking him everywhere with us. Jacob, on the other hand…not so much. Just kidding Jake. We love you too!

I love this verse that my neighbor Gretchen sent today…

John 1:16   From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

And they keep on coming! Thank you Lord!

Ryan’s doing well. He’s so relaxed. Makes me want to fall asleep sometimes just looking at him. But alas, I must continue to move about. Sure wish he could join me. Perhaps one day…
