Watching Ryan tonight. What a blessing it is to be able to watch my boy…ur uh, young man. He’s been smiling a lot tonight. Hopefully, that’s his way of approving me watching him…
We watched us some Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory and Battle Bots. I think it would be a lot of fun building a battle bot, but it’s kinda rocket science, and I don’t have the aptitude for anything greater than that which requires more than a first grade education. Wish Ryan were better so he could help. He’s a pretty smart guy…
Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
What time is it? It’s time to thank God for everything?
Only 179 days left until Christmas. And, you all know what that means…
So, there’s a bit of a breeze kicking up this evening and it feels so good. That’s the Bay Area for you; hot during the day and cooled off at night thanks to the wind off of the Bay. We’re not out of the woods yet, as the forecast predicts hot weather for the next couple of days. But, at least it’s tolerable…
Ryan’s been comfortable in his room. He did go out yesterday to get tested for TB. You know, that thing they do when they prick your finger? He’ll go in tomorrow to check the results, but he looks fine. The test had to be done because there’s a new group coming in to work with him on school-type stuff, and they require it be done. This group will be interacting with him in various ways trying to stimulate him and get him to communicate. I promise to get better details about their activities and share them with you tomorrow or the next day or the next or…
Thanks for the continued prayers and well-wishes. You are loved!!
Ryan’s resting comfortably in his room watching Gladiator. Janine put it on because he is familiar with the movie. We’ll watch him closely when Russell Crow barks the line “Are you not entertained?” to see if he reacts. If that doesn’t get a rise out of him, we’ll switch movies to Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. At least I’ll be entertained…
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
What else can one do when it’s too hot to go outside? One can search the internet for corny things…and no, not necessarily corn, the vegetable…
Saw this sign: Frog parking only. All others will be toad.
Why did the poor man sell yeast? To raise some dough.
If a cop pulls over a U-Haul, is he trying to bust a move?
I tried to take a picture of some fog. I mist.
I have a lot of jokes about unemployed people, but none of them work.
Guess who I saw today? Everyone I looked at.
Why do French people eat snails? Because they don’t like fast-food.
Why do seagulls fly over the sea? Because if they flew over the bay they would be called bagels.
Okay, I admit, Ryan didn’t laugh at them either. Pardon me while I go throw up now…
It’s been hot around here lately…in the low 90’s…but not nearly as hot as other places, which proves there’s always somebody worse off than you…unless you’re a desert snake that likes it hot…or my sister Dana…then, they’re better off than you. So, be grateful for whatever God blesses you with.
Psalm 5:11-12 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Ryan’s grateful for prayers prayed on his behalf…and for his air-conditioned room…the only air-conditioned room in the house. Now you know the real truth why I like watching him…ha ha.
Thank you all for the wonderful comments about Ryan’s picture of him smiling. I’ll be sure to mention it to him tomorrow when I see him. I’m sure it’ll make him smile again, and again, I’ll take a picture. Now, if only a few laughs would come along with that smile…perhaps one day…
Job 8:21 “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.”
Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
Luke 6:21 “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”
It’s Thursday night already, and I’m about to go in to watch Ryan for the rest of the evening. Don’t know what we’ll be doing, but I know it’ll be some quality with my son. Still hoping for a hug back from him. But, what parent isn’t hoping for a hug back from their child. I guess in the end, we’re all in the same boat, huh?
Have a blessed evening y’all!
Being the Buchanan Clan is of Scottish decent, I thought I’d post a bit of history about how tough we are…
Edward Longshanks (Edward I of England) comes to Scotland to conquer the Scots. He brings 4,000 men with him. As he reaches the battlefield, suddenly on the crest of hill there appears a solitary figure, a little stocky ginger-haired guy in a kilt.
“Hammer of the Scots?” yells the wee Scottish guy on the hill. “Come up here, ya English bastards, and I’ll give ye hammer!”
Edward turns to his commander and says, “Take 20 men and deal with that Scottish upstart!”
The commander send 20 men over the hill to kill the Scot.
Ten minutes later, at the crest of the hill, the little Scot appears again. “Ye English bastards!” he yells. “Come on the rest of ye!! Come on, I’ll have ya!!”
Edward is getting somewhat annoyed. He turns to his commander. “Take 100 men and kill that little guttersnipe!”
The commander sends 100 men over the hill to do the job. Ten minutes later, the little Scot appears at the top of the hill again, his hair all sticking up, his shirt a bit torn. “Ye English Scum!” he yells.
“I’m just warming up!!!! Come and Get me!!!”
Edward loses patience. “Commander, take 400 men and personally Wipe Him Off The Face Of The Earth!” he yells.
The commander gulps, but leads 400 men on horseback over the crest of the hill. Ten minutes later, the little Scotsman is back. His clothing all torn, his face is covered in blood, snot and Irn-Bru, and yells, “Is that the best ye can do??? You’re Bloody Wimmin!!!! Come on, come and have a go ya bunch of Jessies!!!”
Edward turns to his second in command. “Take 1000 men over that hill and don’t come back till you’ve killed him!” he commands.
The second in command gathers the men and they ride off over the hill to their fate. Ten minutes later, one of the English troops appears back at the top of the hill. He’s covered in blood and his clothes are all torn.
“Your Majesty!!!” he yells “It’s a trap!! There’s two of them.”
There were so many postings on FB of the sunset last night. This was the view of it from Ryan’s room. How blessed we all are to have a God who is this creative. His creativity knows no bounds. And, neither does His love…
Oh Lord! Our Lord! How majestic is your name in all the earth!
Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
God made Ryan smile last night…
