Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/31/16

Ryan’s had a good weekend, and he hopes you all did as well. This next week marks the fourth week he and his new teacher/therapist will be working together. Ryan’s really adapted quickly with this man, and seems to enjoy the change, and similarities, in the methods used to engage him. Let’s just say the transition to this new person has been smooth.

We’re hoping to get and working on getting a Tobii unit (eye tracking program thingy), and praying that it’s something the regional center will provide. The process is long, and we’re anxious to finally see what Ryan can do with it when he’s healthy. If you will recall, he was sick during the trial period, and so we never got to see what he could really do with it.

Please pray that we’ll be able to get this incredible instrument, so we can finally see if communication with Ryan can go beyond the occasional blink of an eye. We’d sure would love to talk to him…

For some reason, these kind of jokes remind me of Ryan…

Finding one of her students making faces at others on the playground, Mrs. Smith stopped to gently reprove the child.

Smiling sweetly, the teacher said “Bobby, when I was a child, I was told that if I made ugly faces, it would freeze and I would stay like that.”

Bobby looked up and replied, “Well, Mrs. Smith, you can’t say you weren’t warned.”

Isaiah 25:9   In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

This is one time I won’t mind being called Surely…

May God Bless You All Ever So Richly This Weekend!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/28/16

Only 149 days left until Christmas…

Sitting here with Ryan watching the MLS All-Star soccer game. He’s falling asleep, as am I. But, I cannot because I must keep watch over him. I don’t normally drink coffee, because it stunts my growth, but I’m contemplating drinking some now. The angel on my right shoulder is saying “Go ahead. It won’t hurt you”. And the angel on my left shoulder is saying “If you’re going to get one, make it a caramel latte.” I think I’ll have some tea…

Rest well, my boy…ZZZZzzzz

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/27/16 Extra Edition

I missed posting yesterday, because I was out of town on business, and in the evening hanging out with some good friends of ours from way back when. We went out to dinner, walked around a street fair for a bit and then retreated to their home to catch up for a few more hours. Needless to say, I didn’t get back to my hotel until around midnight. I had an appointment early this morning, so I decided to go to bed rather than post something. So, this is what you get; today’s boring recap of yesterday’s events. This reminds me of the junk I see all the time on FB. The only thing that’s missing is a picture of my food. Oh! And a cat or two…

So to make up for the lack of substance, I’d like to say (which I can never say enough) thank you all for the time you spend praying on Ryan’s (and our) behalf. Without prayer, God would not be moving in and around his circumstance and/or in the lives of people, in general. We have seen Him moving in miraculous ways; ways that only God can imagine and do…

Have a wonderful evening on and with purpose!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/27/16

It’s been hot these past few days, and it’s supposed to be hot tomorrow as well…That’s what summer’s all about, isn’t it? Ryan’s been comfortable throughout though, and really wouldn’t know the difference, except that we tell him it’s hot out; and, we don’t bring him outside when it’s hot. He’s good with it…we think.

So, Jacob is going on a vacation to Europe. He’ll be traveling with a couple of buddies from high school and visiting an exchange student, who played with him on his soccer team for a year. They’ll be hanging out in Spain for a week or so, then will take the train through other parts of Europe for another week plus. It’s kind of scary letting him go like that, especially with all of the garbage that’s happening in our world today. Will you please join us in praying for a safe and fun trip for him? He needs God’s arms wrapped securely around him at all times…as do we all…

Thank you.

PURPOSE   noun:   the quality of being determined to do or achieve something

Romans 12:11-13   Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Live your life on and with purpose! You’ll feel even better than you do now…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/24/16

Poked my head into Ryan’s room right now, and he was fast asleep: just as he should be at 11:40 P.M. Janine and I were out today visiting some friends, so we didn’t get to see him. His nurse said he had a really good day; which for Ryan is any day without incident (I suppose it’s the same for us as well). Anyway, it was good to hear and to see him sleeping peacefully.

Sweet dreams young man! And, pleasant dream wishes for all of you as well. May God bless the week ahead…each and every moment…

RYAN’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE ELECTION DISCUSSION…

It’s a slow day in Heaven, so St. Peter decides to show a new guy around. St. Peter shows him all of the sights: the golf course, library, observation deck, cafeteria and a huge room full of clocks.

“What’s up with those clocks, Peter?”

“Everyone on earth has a clock that shows how much time he/she has left. When the clock runs out of time, the person dies and comes to the gates to be judged.”

The guy notices that some clocks are going faster than others. St. Peter tells him that every time a living person tells a lie, it speeds up his/her clock. The guy notices one clock in the center of the ceiling with both hands whirling around at an unbelievable rate.

“What’s the story with that clock?”

“Oh, that,” St. Peter replies. “That’s Hillary Clinton’s clock. We decided to use it as a fan.”
