Ryan and I had a great night watching the regular season football game between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. It was an entertaining game. I love football season; not necessarily for the football (although, I do like football), but more for the time of year it starts out in. The days are still warm, but the nights cool down nicely; which makes it easier to sleep. And, it’s nice knowing Fall is just around the corner. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. So while we were watching the game, the air-conditioner was turned off and we had the windows open allowing a nice cross-breeze of fresh crisp air to flow freely throughout the room. There’s nothing like a breath of fresh crisp air to cleanse the lungs. Last night made me want to go out and play football; although it may not be advised for someone of my age. While my mind says I can still play, my body may say otherwise. It wasn’t too long ago that I was throwing the football to both my boys in the elementary school playground. “Go long!” I’d say. And, when they were about 50 yards away, I’d yell “psyche”, then throw it to the short out route guy, and wait for the disappointed, nay disgusted, look on their poor little faces. Now what father hasn’t done that to their kids before? You’d be lying if you say you haven’t. Ha ha! Toughens ’em up, I say. Don’t worry. I’m not that bad a person. When we were finished playing, I’d take them to the ice cream store and buy them a treat. Then I’d give them a precious trophy for participating in the day’s activity………………………NOT!
I miss those days, but also look forward to the days ahead that God has planned for us…Jeremiah 29:11
Have a wonderful weekend on and with purpose! Love, The Buchanan Family
