So I have to apologize to my wonderful wife for yesterday’s post. I really do need to apologize, because she’s standing next to me holding a rolling-pin, so if I don’t you can imagine what’s gonna happen…
So, I called her tonight to give me a more exciting story about Ryan, and she had a good one for me. The reader’s digest version is that she was watching the Cal game tonight which we had recorded. The Cal fight song came on and she started singing it. When she turned around, Ryan had a huge smile on his face, and she says he looked like he was laughing really hard, which made her laugh to the point of tears. I’m not sure I would’ve taken it as well as she did, because Ryan could have been laughing at her “singing”, and not laughing at her “singing” if you get my drift. Nah! We all know how beautiful a singer she is. Thanks Ryan for pointing it out, and for making your mother laugh!
Luke 6:21b …Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
I’m in Owasso, OK (bet you didn’t even know this place existed) this entire week for my company’s sales meeting, so I’ll be getting my Ryan updates from Janine. So, I called just now for an update, and she says he’s fine. No really, that’s all she said. There was no glitz, glamour or any embellishment whatsoever, like y’all get from me which makes these posts the beautiful pattern of words which grab your attention and something y’all can’t live without…or go to sleep after reading Shawna…Nope! All you get tonight is that Ryan is fine. Perhaps after reading tonight’s entry, Janine will think of something a little more interesting to say, and I won’t be as embarrassed to share as I am now…ha ha!
Have wonderful dreams on purpose tonight!
Ryan’s bed has been acting up the past few days, so I tried reaching out to the company that sold it to us, only to find that they no longer exist. Fortunately, the company that actually manufactures the unit still has a website. Whether or not they’re still open is yet to be determined. I guess we’ll find out on Monday. In the meantime, Ryan is sleeping comfortably on the floor. At least I hope he is. Hardwood can be kind of…well, hard…
The rest of us will be sleeping in our comfy Sleep Numbers…
Ryan has a heart for others, and I know he wants to help those in need whenever he can. That’s why he doesn’t mind sharing his website to ask you all to pray when the need arises; and especially when God is being glorified through the circumstance…
That said, here’s an update about Holly from her brother Greg…
“Team Holly –
Less than 24 hours after her leg was amputated, Holly is back on her feet…. or should I say, on her foot. The hospital team had her out of bed, learning to get around with a walker. Way to go Holly. Way to go Lord!
I just got off the phone with Holly (and Jim). She is recovering very well, and is in amazing spirits. She is so thankful for every prayer, and all the well-wishes sent by text, card, email, telegraph and Pony Express.
Holly feels like a heavy burden is lifted. According to the doctors, the cancer was limited to the leg. Now it is gone. It’s not 100% certain the cancer is gone, but for now, all tests are negative.
Still a lot of challenges ahead, but this is a great start.
Again, I want to thank you all for praying for my neighbor’s daughter Holly. She and her family have been such a blessing to me and mine over the past 30 years, and I know your faithfulness in prayer for her is a blessing to her, and God is moving on her behalf because of those prayers.
Thursday night fun with Ryan! Apparently I’m too boring for him. I’m happy for him, however, because he seems to be having a nice dream. It’s a wonderful thing to see him sleeping peacefully. Brings back memories of him sleeping as a baby. For those of us who are parents, we know how it is? Isn’t it the best?
May y’all sleep as peacefully as Ryan tonight! Sweet Dreams…ZZZZZzzzzzz
Please continue to pray for my neighbor’s daughter Holly; and pray especially hard for her tomorrow. She has surgery tomorrow to remove her leg…all the way up to her hip. Throughout this season, she’s “seen God’s intervening and giving (her) peace”. I admire her faith in the Almighty One.
Lord, Please continue to grant peace and comfort to Holly; especially tomorrow during her surgery and then an extra helping thereafter, as it will be difficult to adjust. Help me to be persistent in my prayers for her, as I have been for Ryan. And, please come soon to take us all to our forever HOME…Amen
As I’ve mentioned before, I was able to grow a pretty good garden this year. Sometimes I imagine what Ryan would’ve made with all of the fresh vegetables. He always liked to cook, and I’m sure he would have made something spectacular. Maybe someday soon??
A FB post: “I want to grow my own food, but I can’t find taco seeds.”
Isaiah 58:7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter– when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
God has blessed us so much! Thank you Lord!
Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day, and you can’t keep it. What would you do? Draw out every cent and spend it, of course!
Each of us has such a bank account. Its name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you 86,400 seconds. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. The clock is running.
Make the most of today!
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
I really think tossing and turning all night should be counted as exercise…
Ryan’s sure was getting his rest today. Every time I walked into the room, he was asleep. Or, maybe he was pulling the old “close your eyes it’s dad” routine…
Rest well my boy. Rest well…
Lord, Please heal my boy tonight. I’d like to talk to him in the morning…and have him talk back. Amen
