While watching Ryan last night, I heard a few puffs of wind coming from his trache. When I looked over to see what was going on, he was laughing. Yes, Laughing!! He had the biggest grin on his face, and continued to laugh for several minutes. I called to Janine to have her come and see, but when she arrived in the room, he stopped. When she left, he started laughing again, so I called her back in to see. Again, he stopped when she came in the room. After waiting for a minute or two, she left, and when she did, guess what? You got it! He started laughing again. This took place over the course of 4-5 minutes.
I noticed something similar for the first time a month or so ago. I’m always skeptical at first, not knowing what it really is, but after hearing the nurses confirm they’ve now seen it on several occasions as well, and after last night, I’m convinced he’s actually laughing. In my daily prayers, I tell God I’d like to see Ryan play music, sing, run, jump, etc. And, I also tell Him I’d like to hear him laugh. Well, God has answered this one part of my prayer, and although it’s a different laugh than Ryan’s usual, it’ll do…for now.
Thank you Lord for answering my prayers!
This quote was posted on FB by my dear friend Diane…
“Life is amazing. Then it’s awful. Then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it’s ordinary, mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And, it’s breathtakingly beautiful!” L.R. Knost
And remember, throughout your entire breathtakingly beautiful life, God is with you every step and crawl of the way…
It’s been 1,933 days since Ryan’s incident back on June 25, 2011. It seems like yesterday, yet so far away. God has accomplished much for His kingdom through Ryan’s circumstance. Many have heard the Word, have come to know the Lord, have renewed faith, restored relationships, have new direction in their lives and have simply become better people because of Ryan’s incident. And, while we continue to pray for Ryan’s complete healing, we pray even more that God will continue to use him in a mighty way, and allow me to see the pieces of the puzzle being connected leading up to His coming again. Ultimately, we’ll look back at the wonder of it all…
Revelation 19:6-7a Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!”
YES!! Now that’s what I’m talking about!!
I’m still waiting patiently for the wisdom that supposedly comes with old age. Anyone else?
Went in to see Ryan this afternoon and he was very attentive when I was talking to him. I really wish I knew what he can comprehend; not that anything I have to say is actually comprehensible. I don’t even know what I’m saying half the time. Anyway, he looks good, and therefore I am thankful.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
So nice to be back where the internet has some speed. I typed these two sentences in less than a second…NOT! I’m all thumbs when it comes to typing, so it actually took me just as long to type them as it did my entire post last night.
Actually, it’s really nice to be back home with the family, and to see Ryan’s beautiful face. He’s looking good today. The nurse said he’s been calm and unassuming…whatever unassuming means. I think he meant pleasant. Ryan’s always pleasant. Yeah, that’s it.
So, Fall is definitely in the air. Love this time of year. Hope you all enjoy the season on purpose!
Internet is really slow tonight. It took me 10 minutes to write these two sentences. So, I will take the next ten minutes to say thank you all for praying for Ryan. He’s doing well today, and hopefully we’ll have the same good news (or even better) to share tomorrow…
Raiders pull out another nail-biting win! Ryan had a smile on his face at the end of the game. His smiles are occurring more frequently, and they’re such a joy to see. We don’t really know what they mean, but if it’s a sign of him being content or happy, we’ll take it and pray that he does it even more.
Thank you Lord for these small, yet really big, things. Help us to keep our eyes open to all the wonders You have for us. They’re really easy to miss if we don’t look/watch for them. Continue to heal Ryan, and help us to look and be open to any and all things that could help in the process. We love you Lord, and know Ryan does as well. And, we know that You love us too…
