I took this picture of Ryan wishing his little brother, Jacob, a Very Happy 20th Birthday! Of course, the nurse had just given him a dose of Benadryl, so his expression is a little lackluster; although, I’m not sure it would have been much different, given the fact that older brothers don’t get overly excited about the birthdays of their younger siblings…or any birthdays for that matter.
Nonetheless, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB!!
Janine’s out of town on business this week, so I get to watch Ryan tonight; normally her shift. I am one fortunate dad; and in general, human being!
You’ve probably all heard the phrase “I don’t worry about things I can’t control”. Well, I don’t. First, we’re not supposed to worry about anything (Philippians 4:6-7). Second, God is in control so what do we really have to worry about? (John 14:27 and a whole lot of other verses) Third, if you know Christ as your Lord and Savior, eternity is going to be totally cool!
Tell your kids you love them before you tuck them in tonight! And give them a huge hug while you’re at it…
Please pray for Belinda; one of Ryan’s nurses. Not sure what is wrong, but she’s been in the hospital for a couple of days. She watches Ryan on Friday’s and Saturday’s during the nocturnal (noct) shift. She is a wonderful lady, and we hope she gets better soon. Ryan misses her.
So, a big THANK YOU to Ryan’s other nurses, and his Grandma & Papa for stepping in to cover the shifts Belinda’s absence made open. Ryan is one blessed young man to have so many people who LOVE to look after him. And, I am blessed whenever I get to watch him, which I’m doing right now.
I wish upon all of you, the same kind of joy I get when I watch Ryan. May God grant it for you all!
Love these verses sent from Gretchen (our next door neighbor)…
Isaiah 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.
Isaiah 25:4 You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.
Enjoy the weekend on purpose!! And, don’t forget to tell your peeps that you love them…
Thank you all for the prayers you offered up for Ryan these past few days (and all the days before). He’s feeling much better. As you know, I had the pleasure of watching over him last night, and he was smiling and laughing again. Must have been because I was watching him…ha ha! I’m not delusional. It was the antibiotics. So, he’ll still be on them for a few more days, but the worst is over…for now.
Once he’s done with this round of AB’s, we’ll scale back a little more on one of his drugs. Got permission from his doctor the other day to reduce one dose by 50mg. It’s a small step in the right direction.
Trying to get a Tobii Dynavox to work with has been a slow process, but we’re getting close to a solution. These agencies have so much red tape, it’s ridiculous. But, we patiently move forward. Hopefully soon…
Y’all have a wonderful weekend on purpose!
Psalm 119:114 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.
Mark 11:23 Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
Faith in the ‘God of no limitations’ takes away the limitations of man. The source of the power is not man but rather faith in God – “If you can believe it, it will happen.” God says, “I have no limitations, if you can believe in me, I can do it.”
Ephesians 1:18-20 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…
I believe God has the power to heal Ryan, and I hope and pray that God will use His mighty strength to raise Ryan up.
Please heal him Lord!
Ryan had a doctor’s visit today and he checked out pretty well. The doctor did give him some antibiotics however, just to make sure it knocks out anything that might be lurking in the shadows. Ryan’s resting comfortably, and hopefully will do so the rest of the night.
Nice break from the rain these past couple of days. Clear and sunny skies. Well, maybe a cloud or two here and there, but nice nonetheless. While I do like the rain, sometimes I wish it would rain only at night and be sunny during the day. That way, everything would be nice and green (or whatever color healthy, watered plants should be)…
Y’all have a pleasant evening. And, don’t forget to thank God for all the blessings He poured over you today…
Ryan’s still battling a little something. We kept his therapists away today to let him rest. Janine’s going to take him in for a check up tomorrow. Please continue to pray for him; that this will not turn into something worse. Thank you.
To all those that fell for yesterday’s post joke: I got ya! It was a snowman. Don’t worry. I was amongst the many who was fooled, at first, by the post. After all, I’m the president of the gullible club…
Please pray for Ryan tonight. He’s got a bit of a fever, and is unsettled/restless. For you and I it’s not a big deal, but for Ryan it’s not a good thing. Please pray that his temp will get back to normal quickly, and that he sleeps through the night. Otherwise, we may have to make another trip to the hospital.
I KNOW God is going to make him feel better tonight, AND that He is going to heal him…
Please God. Please!
I’ll apologize in advance because I try to be drama-free, and stick to topics of interest, but quite frankly I just NEED to vent. I’m so sorry. I truly am….
I… have had ENOUGH!!!! We’ll never help anyone again……EVER!! Either I’m too kindhearted, too stupid, or too gullible!! Out of the kindness of our hearts, and because it was so cold and rainy out yesterday, we took a man into our home. We felt so sorry for him. Poor guy was trembling out in the cold, but this morning he just vanished. Not a word…not even “goodbye” or “thank you” for sheltering him!!
The last straw?!?! When I realized he had peed all over the living room floor!!! That’s the “thank you” I get for being good to people?!?!?!
Now I’m going to warn my friends to watch out for this man! He is heavy set, and he’s wearing nothing but a scarf. He has a nose that looks like a carrot, two black eyes, and his arms are so skinny they look like sticks!!! Don’t bring him into your house!! What a huge mess he made on our floor!!!
