Tomorrow my boy turns 23. My, how the years fly by! I’m going to go to bed right now, so the morning comes quickly and I can say Happy Birthday Ryan!
Ah heck! I’m going to go in and say happy birthday to him right now…And, I’m going to eat cake before I eat my dinner. Because I can…
REFUGE noun: something or someone turned to for assistance or security; a shelter from danger or hardship
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Here they are! The Black Tuxedos! Ryan on Guitar, Dave on Bass & Reed on Drums and a few roadies back in 5th Grade. A reunion would be nice…
Psalm 95:1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Ryan has the best friends…and a lot of them. Today Dave and his mom Susan came to visit. Dave went to school with Ryan. They also played in a band together in 5th grade called the Black Tuxedos. Janine posted a picture of them on FB. If she sends me a copy, I’ll post it here soon. Needless to say, they were fun to watch and listen to. At my age, I barely remember playing in some of the groups I did. All I remember is that it was fun. And, by the looks on the boys faces, etc. they were having fun as well. Hope Ryan recovers to make more music…and more friends…
There’s nothing like having a party to motivate getting things done around the house. It’s a good thing we’ve got a couple of places to hide all the accumulation; like sweeping things under the rug…ha ha! Can’t wait to celebrate Ryan’s birthday next weekend. It’s always nice celebrating a child’s special day. I hope and pray we are able to celebrate many many more of his birthdays…Hope y’all are going to come and have a good time with us!
John 16:21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
Psalm 27:4-7 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
Some FB funnies:
“Lord, Give me patience, because if you give me strength, I’m gonna need bail money to go with it.”
“If I’m ever on life support, unplug me. Then, plug me back in. See if that works.”
“Real friends don’t get offended when you insult them. They smile and call you something even more offensive.”
“I hate it when I see some old person and then realize we went to high school together.”
“”Rabbi, our son is a holy terror. He’s been thrown out of six schools already, and he’s only in fifth grade!”
“Send him to Catholic school.”
“What?! Are you sur…e?”
A week later:
“Good afternoon, Mom. How are you, Dad?”
“Fine, son. How was school?”
“Great. I’m going to do my homework now. Please help me get to school on time tomorrow. Oh, and can I have an apple for the teacher?”
“Son, I’m proud of you. Seems like that new school is really straightening you out.”
“Yeah well, they mean business, Dad. They’ve got a Jew nailed to a cross in every room!””
And last but not least…
“Whiten your teeth in 7 minutes!”
It’s that time of year again! Ryan will be another year older (23). Wow, how time flies!! To celebrate, we’ll be having an open house on Saturday, June 3 from 2 P.M. – 7 P.M. Y’all are invited to stop in to wish the birthday boy a happy day…or whatever you’d like. I know he’ll appreciate the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for supporting him all these years in love and prayer and so many other ways.
As usual, there’ll be plenty of things to munch on, singing, laughing, sharing stories and having a great time in general.
We’d love to see you. Please consider coming…
So Ryan’s air bed filler thingy (for lack of better knowledge) decided to go on the blink again. The poor night nurse had to listen to it whirring and making other awful noises throughout the greater part of the morning. It’ll probably take a couple of weeks until we can get this unit fixed (or perhaps have to replace it), but we’ll manage to make sure Ryan is comfortable until it is…fixed, that is.
Thankfully, we have an old mattress we’re able to sub out when such atrocities happen. We are thankful and grateful for this (as are Ryan’s nurses and anyone else who happens to visit his room), and pray for those less fortunate; those who don’t have the luxury of any mattress at all. Thank you Lord!
Hope you all are enjoying a great week on and with purpose! We are! XOXOX
Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
Looked up verse of the day on the internet, and this is what popped up. How random, huh? So, how does this tie into Ryan’s Miracle Watch? Well, this may be a stretch, but I’ll take a stab at it…
On second thought, I won’t. Y’all have a nice evening. Thanks for continuing to pray for Ryan’s recovery, comfort, peace, etc. Oh, and while you’re at it, sing something to God. He likes it when we sing to him…even if we can’t carry a tune…
Good job Warriors! Yet another sweep of a formidable opponent. Now, on to the NBA finals to face, most likely, the Cavaliers. Get some rest Warriors, but stay sharp…
Speaking of rest, Ryan’s getting plenty of it since his return from the hospital. Hopefully this rest is helping him heal. He sure looks good.
It’s the end of another school year and so many of our kids are graduating from one grade or another. Can you believe how fast the time has flown? Bet you can’t. Cherish the moments…no, make that the seconds…uh check that, and make it nanoseconds. Yeah, that’s better. Point is, the years go way too quickly. Congrats to all the grats!!
