Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/11/17

JUDGE   verb:   form an opinion of or pass judgment on

Love this poem:

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its décor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp —
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

Bob, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, ‘What’s the deal?
‘I would love to hear Your take.
‘How’d all these sinners get up here?
‘God must’ve made a mistake.’

‘And why is everyone so quiet,
‘So somber — give me a clue.’
‘Hush, child,’ He said,
‘They’re all in shock!
‘No one thought they’d see you.’

the most thankful person in heaven, or both!)

Remember…Just going to church doesn’t make you a
Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Every saint has a PAST…
Every sinner has a FUTURE!

Matthew 7:1-5   “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

Instead, let people know that God loves them…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/10/17

Ryan would like to wish his mom safe and productive travels to South Korea this week for business. Hopefully, she won’t get caught in the line of fire with North Korea. That wouldn’t be good…

So, that means I get the pleasure of picking up an extra shift today watching Ryan. Awesome! I may also get to watch him the rest of the week, since one of our nurses may be called to jury duty. I’ll find out tomorrow morning whether or not he gets placed on a jury.

Ryan’s doing well today. So far, he’s been asleep for the first hour and a half, so we’ll see what kind of mood he’s in when he wakes up. Wait a minute! He’s always in a good mood, so what am I thinking? His mood is fairly predictable; much like the weather forecast in San Diego. I should have been a weatherman (or whatever the politically correct term is for it today) in San Diego, because they get paid a lot of money to say basically the same thing day after day. Don’t think I’d have ever made it as one though, because they are all basically models. The only thing I could be a model for is feet. Have you seen how beautiful my feet are? Neither have I for a few years now because of my gut. Hmm, oh well…

Anyway, I’m gonna watch Ryan sleep. Hope y’all have a great night (or rest of the day depending on what part of the world you live in)…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/8/17

Hot day today; very close to 100 if not…

Folded Ryan’s clothes after washing/drying them this afternoon. When I walked into his room to put them away, his nurse had him up in his chair watching Mad Max…the first one. He had a smile on his face, and really seemed to be enjoying the movie. This was a film when Mel G was still somewhat sane. Come to think of it, has he ever been sane? I should be nice to him. After all, his family line, Gibson, (as I found out while in Scotland) is umbrella’d under the Buchanan clan’s crest. That’s why he was wearing a Buchanan Hunter’s Plaid Kilt when he accepted his Academy Award for Braveheart. Hmmm. Who’d a thunk?

Fitting quote for the occasion posted on FB:

“How many of us have looked around our family reunion and thought…”Well, aren’t we just two clowns short of a circus?”

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/7/17

So, Ryan is doing a lot better today. As you know, I watched him yesterday, and he had a fever and a whole lot of other things going on all throughout the shift. That is, until the final hour, when whatever he had decided to go away and everything returned to normal…well, somewhat normal anyway. Today his vitals were slightly elevated (or lower depending on what vital being looked at), but he was showing no signs of distress. He looked very comfortable, and I’m hoping he actually was. I love this kid, and feel so helpless that I can’t fix him. But, I know someone who can, and I know that in His time, He will…

Psalm 103:2-5   Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/6/17

Sorry for not posting for a couple of days. Got back late on July 4th and have been sleeping ever since. Not really, I was just lazy and took the extra time to recoup from our trip.

Anyway, it was GREAT coming home and seeing Ryan this past Tuesday night. He was asleep (or getting there) when we arrived, so I didn’t stay in his room too long. It was wonderful seeing him, though. I was relieved to see him if that makes sense. I apologize if it doesn’t but that’s all I’ve got. He was so well cared for while we were away. Thank you Ed and Sue (Ryan’s Grandparents) for keeping an eye on him and his nurses…and for not wrecking our house (at least we can’t tell if you had any major raves here). We appreciate and love you…not for just doing what you do…but also for the wonderful people you are. Speaking of grandparents, Thank you Ray and Sandy for being there for us as well. As many of you know, my mom, Sandy, and Ed and Sue come over frequently to perform physical therapy on Ryan several times during the week. This is so necessary for Ryan’s flexibility/mobility. I know he enjoys and appreciates it (well, I don’t know if he likes the workouts, but they’re good for him). We are often complemented by his doctors/nurses, etc. about how good Ryan looks for being in the state he’s been in for as long as he’s been in it. It’s mainly due to his wonderful grandparents. Thank you!!!!

So, since we’ve been home, his temperature has been slightly elevated, so we’re keeping a close eye on him to make sure it doesn’t erupt into anything more serious. We don’t want a repeat of the last visit we had to make to the hospital just a few short weeks ago (maybe more like a month, but hey, what do I know? I’ve been on vacation and don’t even know what day it is.) Please pray that Ryan’s temp will come back down to normal and that he’ll avoid having to make that dreadful trip to the hospital. Thank you all for your continued love and support. We know your prayers have helped tremendously in sustaining Ryan’s well-being.

Happy Belated 4th of July! And happy belated Wednesday as well!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/3/17

Tomorrow is the 4th of July; a day Americans annually celebrate/commemorate the Continental Congress’ approval of the final wording of the Declaration of Independence back in 1776. Tomorrow will have a double meaning for Janine and I, as we’ll be home celebrating not only this grand commemoration, but also the fact we’ll get to see Ryan for the first time in a very loooooooonnnnnnnngggggg time…

Happy Fourth of July Everybody!! Celebrate on and with purpose…and safely!!

Psalm 119:43-47   Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/2/17

I can’t brag about my love for God, because I fail him daily. I can, however, brag about His love for me, because it never fails.

Only two more days left of our vacation. As much as I was excited about going on vacation, I am equally excited to return home. As Dorothy would say, “There’s no place like home.” If only it were possible to click my heals three time to get there…

May God’s love pour over you in abundance!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 7/1/17

7117 will never happen again…at least not in my lifetime…better make the most of the rest of today. Oh, and 7217! That is if the Lord so choses to grace us with another day…

We arrived in London yesterday, and have been hoofing it all around town ever since. Went to Buckingham Palace today, but the queen didn’t come out despite my repeated summoning. I did, however, capture the attention of a few of the guards. I know who she’ll come out for whether she wants to or not…

Isaiah 49:23   Kings and queens will serve you and care for all your needs. They will bow to the earth before you and lick the dust from your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD . Those who trust in me will never be put to shame.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the Lord to summon me home…

Speaking of home; it’s getting toward the end of our vacation, and I’m ready to go home to see Ryan. I sure do miss him a lot. Just a few more days…
