Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/30/17

One of Ryan’s old nurses stopped by today to visit him, and she stayed for a few hours. Those that know him, can’t help but love him and want to be around him. He just has that effect on people. It’s the same for me, and I’m his dad. But, even if I weren’t his dad, I know I’d feel the same way. There’s just something about him…

It’s gotta be Jesus shining through. There’s no other logical explanation…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/29/17

Only 12 more Fridays until Christmas. Just sayin’…

Ryan had another good day today. His visitor from an agency called Futures (people who visit, read to, sing to, watch movies with, etc.) brought the Ken Burns documentary about Jazz History. It’s very well done, and Ryan perks up when he hears the music…as do I. I really thing he likes it; at least I hope he does.

Now that Ryan’s back to “normal”, it’s time to start writing some music with him. I’ll need to get a writing program for my computer and learn how to use it. Then, I’ll bring in my keyboard and start writing and playing collaborating with Ryan. I wish I could’ve found what he was writing on his computer, so I could help him finish what he started. Oh well, he’ll just have to do it when he gets better…

For now, we’ll just create some new stuff…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/28/17

I started jotting down some thoughts about trials/challenges, but decided to wait until I’m well-rested in order to put better thought into it. So, please stay tuned for some amazing insight into the subject…or don’t…Anything I write is not worth holding your breath or losing sleep over…

So, instead of a brilliant expose on trials, etc., I’m wimping out and giving y’all somebody else’s advice on how to enhance your lives:

“CHRISTMAS TIP: Wrap empty boxes for presents and when your child misbehaves or doesn’t listen, throw one in the fire.”

“If you answer your phone “Hello, you’re on the air!, most telemarketers will quickly hang up.”

“Telling a woman to calm down works out about as well as baptizing a cat.”

And my personal favorite: “Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.”

Please think of at least one person you can pray for right now…and pray for them…

Goodnight y’all…zzzzzzz

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/27/17

Ryan had an amazing day today; spa-mazing day, if you will. This morning, he got to have  a shower for the first time in about 5 years. That’s right, five years. Now, before you go all commando on me for neglecting his hygiene all that time, we did give him sponge baths throughout that time, so he never smelled like Limburger cheese. No, today he got a real bona-fide sit in a chair shower; like the ones he used to get while he was at George Mark Children’s House. You remember that place, don’t you? Anyway, once he was done with his shower, his grandma gave him a massage (aka physical therapy), his mother gave him a facial (aka did some grooming) and he got a haircut (aka a haircut). The end result; a beautiful, completely relaxed young man who napped deeply for 4 hours afterward. That’s right, four hours. I’d have taken a picture, but the “no paparazzi” flag was flying. I’ll try to post one tomorrow. You know? I bet I could get some big bucks for a picture of Ryan sporting his sparkling body and new do; at least enough to purchase a Happy Meal at Micky D’s…

So, to recap: Ryan had a splendid day today. His stats are back to “his” normal, and have been for a few days now. Tomorrow is his last day of antibiotics, and hopefully he won’t have to take any more for a long long time, if ever again.

Praise God for another day! Let’s pray for another one tomorrow. It’s what we do…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/25/17

So, this is the kind of stuff you get from me when I’ve been up for a day and a half. Eh, who am I trying to kid? You’d get this even when I’ve had plenty of sleep…

Today I’ll Exercise

“Today I’ll Exer

Today I’ll

Today

To

Ta

Tac

Taco

Tacos”

“Thank God I don’t have to hunt for my food. I don’t even know where tacos live.”

“People who ask me what I’m doing tomorrow probably assume I even know what day of the week it is.”

“I’m in a good place right now. Not emotionally. I’m just at the liquor store.”

“PLOT TWIST: Maybe eating a donut wasn’t cheating on my diet. Maybe going on a diet was cheating on my doughnuts.”

“People say I act like I don’t care. Spoiler alert, it’s not an act.”

Alright, now that y’alls guts are busting, we want to wish you a wonderful evening and rest of the week. Ours has started out nicely…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/24/17

Great day for Ryan today. He’s seemingly back to normal. No O2 supplement, temp normal and pulse rates normal. He even started laughing again. Praise God!

Now, we can once again focus solely on praying for his complete healing…oh, and that he never gets sick again. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Yesterday, I read an article about Victoria Arlen of Dancing with the Stars; a gal who was in a vegetative state for nearly four years…then recovered. During her account of her ordeal, one line stood out and sent chills up my spine. It was as follows:

“The lights when out,” Arlen said. “I was trapped inside my body, unable to move, talk and function … I had to prepare for the possibility of dying.”

I just can’t comprehend going through anything like this, and hope Ryan knows God’s got him in the palm of His hand, and that we all are storming the gates of heaven on his behalf.

Ryan, We love you. We are praying for you. We are pleading with God that He will grant you peace and comfort and ultimate healing; that He will be by your side throughout this journey you’re on. I hope the reason for your laughter is because God told you a joke…or maybe it’s just you think your dad is funny looking. Whatever the case, I/we want you to be happy. And, we want you back even better than before you got injured. We miss you dearly. Please come back to us…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/23/17 Belated

Couldn’t post last night, because my computer was updating, and it was taking forever. Well, not forever. That would be a long time. Would it be time at all? No, there is no time in forever…

Anyway, Ryan did well yesterday. Only had to supplement his O2 a couple of times. I haven’t heard the machine go on today, so I’m assuming (I know, I know. What happens when one assumes?) he hasn’t needed any…we’re praying. It’s not a bad thing to give supplemental O2. In fact, it may be a good thing every once in a while. It’s just that the machine is so annoyingly loud and cumbersome. Whatever the boy needs, though…

So, today is a beautiful fall day. Sun is shining and it’s about 75 degrees out. I think we’ll watch a little football outside, cause it’s too nice to stay indoors.

We hope and pray y’all have a beautiful day on purpose! Do not pass up enjoying even a single moment…they only come around once…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/22/17

Whew, it’s been a loooonnnnngggggg week. Ryan’s been on room air for the better part of the day. His sat is still on the lower side, but within acceptable margins. Hopefully tomorrow he’ll be completely back to normal. But, we aren’t going to push him. We’ll let him recover in his own time. Speaking of in His time: God makes all things beautiful in His time…

So, if anybody needs me, I’ll be hibernating until Christmas…only 94 days more ’til then…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 9/21/17

Thank you all! Your prayers are working for Ryan, as he continues to get back to normal (his normal). He had a doctor’s appointment today at around 2 P.M., and has been off of supplemental O2 since, and is satting well. His temp and pulse rate are approaching normal as well. Praise God for giving someone/s the brains to figure out antibiotics and other modern medicines. Please continue to pray for his full recovery from this, as well as the thing we’ve been praying for all these years…

And, while you’re at it, please pray for the less fortunate people in the world who don’t have access to the medicines they need. And, pray for God’s mercy and grace upon them…
