Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/17/17

We’re having a new roof put on the old part of the house. The old roof is 2×6 tongue and groove and has been leaking for at least 7-8 years. As the roofers have peeled off the old shingles and begun to lay down plywood, paper and etc., a lot of dust has been raining down inside the house through the many cracks. For the past three days, I’ve been sweeping up debris that’s fallen, and couldn’t help but think this is nothing compared to all of the people who’ve recently had to go back into their homes after some catastrophe (earthquake, floods, hurricane, fire damage, etc.) and clean up the mess that’s been left. I can’t imagine…

We are blessed to be able to add a new roof onto our house. Yes, out of necessity, but not because of a disaster. We’ve been able to cover our furniture, take down pictures, come and go as we please, etc. Those less fortunate have lost many of these things. Some have lost everything.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it a thousand more times: there’s always someone less fortunate than me…than you. Please pray for those who are less fortunate. And maybe, be generous toward them as well…

I don’t wait until Sunday to thank the Lord. I thank Him everyday.

Ryan and I thanked Him this morning when he woke up. We prayed for y’all that you would have a great day; that you would understand His perfect ways and see part of His plan unfolding. Hopefully, you didn’t miss any of it…

How does Moses make coffee? Hebrews it…

Janine and I went to watch Ashley’s (Ryan’s Daytime Visitor from Futures) band play at a fundraiser for Puerto Rico and Mexico. The band just before hers played salsa music, and there were so many people cutting up the dance floor. Then her band played and kept the place rockin’. Ryan would have loved to have seen it, and I know he will because Janine took a few videos. I couldn’t help but think of him up there playing either the drums or guitar, or singing…or as talented as he is, all three at once…

Please pray for him the next couple of days, because I’ll be the one watching him from 11 tonight until 3 P.M. on Tuesday. He’s in for the care of his life…literally!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/14/17

We just now finished watching the movie “The Shack”, and it was a pretty good interpretation of the book, but the book is better. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading it. It’s by William Paul Young.

Popped in to see Ryan to give him a hug, kiss and say a quick prayer before heading off to bed. I really love that young man…

SLEEP   noun:   a natural and periodic state of rest during which consciousness of the world is suspended

Ryan stayed awake all last night…didn’t go to sleep until 5:30 this morning. He then slept for 6 hours and was awake for the remainder of the day. Somehow his clock got off. Needless to say, I’ll be keeping a close eye on him to make sure nothing (besides the obvious) is wrong, or leading up to something potentially wrong. Good news is, he’s sleeping now…something I’m going to do while I have the opportunity…

Goodnight all! Sleep well, for if the Lord grants us another tomorrow, you’ll want all the energy you have accumulated throughout the night to live the day to its fullest…

All praise, glory and honor to Him!

So the bad news is, the nurse who was supposed to do a meet and greet didn’t show to the agency’s orientation this morning, so the agency smartly dumped him. Can you say flake?

The good news is, the agency has another person they’re sending tomorrow for a meet and greet. Let’s hope this one doesn’t flake out, and is a good fit.

Ryan’s air mattress is up and running again. The air pump unit was making a weird noise, so I sent it in for repairs. 2+ months later and it finally got fixed and shipped back. No matter. In the meantime, we made do with a regular mattress. Needless to say, we all got our exercise turning him manually ever couple of hours. The air mattress automatically turns him. I’m going to miss the sore backs…

You know? Going to my reunion the other night made me think; if I’ve learned anything in my 23 years on earth, it’s that it’s okay to lie about your age…

Tomorrow, the nursing agency is finally sending a candidate over for a meet and greet. Hopefully, he’ll be a good fit for Ryan. Please pray for this to be the case…

If I were a nurse, I’d want a patient like Ryan to look after. He’s an easy guy to take care of and such a joy to be around. All who’ve looked after him say so. And, I think y’all know I’m not saying this just because I’m his dad…

Please pray for someone before you hit the hay tonight. I guarantee your dreams will be sweeter…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/10/17

I was going to post a picture of Ryan sleeping soundly, but for some reason the pic is stuck in my phone. You’ll just have to take my word for it. Anyway, he’s had a fantastic string of good days, which we hope will continue. This morning, he had his stent removed. It was placed in there during his kidney stone removal surgery. The doctor removed it in just a few short minutes, all while Ryan was sitting in his chair. Technology never ceases to surprise me. Perhaps it’s because I’m pretty low on the brain spectrum and grasshoppers and sparkly things amaze me…

To summarize, I’m happy to be watching over a soundly sleeping young man, and looking forward to what the Good Lord has in store for us tomorrow…

Goodnight y’all!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/9/17

Very windy last night. Woke me up when something fell over in the bathroom. When I got up to see what it was, I smelled smoke and went outside to see if our or someone else’s house was on fire. Found out this morning that it was smoke that had drifted down from the Santa Rosa and other fires up north. I can still smell smoke tonight.

Please pray for all of the people affected by these terrible fires. Some have lost all of their earthly possessions. A few even lost their lives. Ryan and I are going to say a quick prayer for them before we turn in tonight. And, we’ll do the same tomorrow morning before we start our day.

Also, please continue to pray God will send him more nurses. We need at least two, but just one would be nice…

Thank you all!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/8/17

Going to my 40th high school class reunion last night really brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “my how time flies”. There were quite a few people there who I’d known not only since high school, but since kindergarten, and we were all saying how it seemed like only yesterday that we were back in elementary school. And, while we all observed that our bodies (and minds) have gone through many changes (some good, but mostly not so good), someone made the comment that the one thing that didn’t change were our eyes. And you know what? He was right. For the rest of the night as I was talking to people, for the first time I was really looking them in the eyes and noticing how true it was; that the eyes hadn’t changed. You can tell a lot about a person from his/her eyes. The saying that eyes are the mirror of the soul is true. In our eyes reflect our emotions, joy, anxiety and so much more. Needless to say, from now on I’ll really be studying people’s eyes when I’m speaking with them.

For those of you that have seen Ryan in person, you know his eyes are beautiful. And by looking at them, you can see how beautiful his soul is. God really outdid Himself when He created Ryan’s soul. I’m so blessed to be able to see those eyes daily. They remind me of God’s goodness and grace, and of His gift of everlasting life.

What do people see when they look into your eyes?
