Going to my 40th high school class reunion last night really brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “my how time flies”. There were quite a few people there who I’d known not only since high school, but since kindergarten, and we were all saying how it seemed like only yesterday that we were back in elementary school. And, while we all observed that our bodies (and minds) have gone through many changes (some good, but mostly not so good), someone made the comment that the one thing that didn’t change were our eyes. And you know what? He was right. For the rest of the night as I was talking to people, for the first time I was really looking them in the eyes and noticing how true it was; that the eyes hadn’t changed. You can tell a lot about a person from his/her eyes. The saying that eyes are the mirror of the soul is true. In our eyes reflect our emotions, joy, anxiety and so much more. Needless to say, from now on I’ll really be studying people’s eyes when I’m speaking with them.
For those of you that have seen Ryan in person, you know his eyes are beautiful. And by looking at them, you can see how beautiful his soul is. God really outdid Himself when He created Ryan’s soul. I’m so blessed to be able to see those eyes daily. They remind me of God’s goodness and grace, and of His gift of everlasting life.
What do people see when they look into your eyes?
