Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/21/18

Update on Bernard: Bernard’s been going through rounds of chemo and, as a result, decided to shave his head a week ago. I’ll request a picture from him to post, but I must say he pulls it off nicely; unlike me who has a football-shaped head.

Update on Luke from 1/19: Luke received his 3rd treatment today along with some blood work which revealed he is neutropenic, low blood count, so he is more susceptible to getting sick and has to be extremely cautious.  It’s recommended he stay home until his numbers climb back up.  I’m surprised by this because he seemed to have more energy lately. It’s a learning process.

Please continue to pray for these two gentlemen.

So, I may have already mentioned this, but this past Monday I gave Ryan one last dose of Topomax, and I’m happy to report there have been no signs of adversity so far…knock on my wooden forehead; otherwise known as football head. Anyway, Janine was saying today Ryan has been tracking her voice with his eyes a lot quicker and what looks to be more intent. Is this a result of reduced medicine? Not sure, but we’re happy he is responding to her in such a way. Now, if I can only get him to look at me, I’d be even more happy. I can’t blame him, however, for not wanting to look at this ugly mug…

TGIF! Really. TGIF and M, T, W, TH, SA & SU as well…along with LMNOP…

It’s been a long week…but really no longer than any other week, as weeks go. It just seemed longer than normal for whatever reason. I wonder if Ryan has any concept of time, and if it feels like forever since he’s been in his situation. On the one hand, I want him to be aware, but on the other, I can’t bear the thought of him feeling trapped and unable to do anything about it. I do know ONE who can do something about it, and I pray all the time that HE will fix Ryan, and while HE is in the process of healing him, that he’ll be his peace and comfort…

In any case, we praise God for His mercy and grace…

Y’all have a wonderful weekend on purpose!

Love and Miss some of the old hymns. They just don’t write music like this anymore…

“In the Garden” by C. Austin Miles, 1913

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Tho’ the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro’ the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

Ryan and I are going to try to write some cool stuff soon. We’ll get some of our inspiration from oldies like this…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/17/18

Day two of no Topomax, and all seems to be well. Please pray that this is the case a couple-few weeks from now.

“Do things for people not because of who they are or what they (may) do in return, but because of who you are.” Mother Teresa

And, not to be outdone…here are a couple of quotes from God:

“Praise the Lord, all people on earth, praise his glory and might.” 1 Chronicles 16:28

“Let us praise God for his glorious grace, for the free gift he gave us in his dear Son!” Ephesians 1:5

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/16/18

Ryan and I are sitting here (well, I’m sitting and he’s laying in bed) watching A Few Good Men with our favorite “small-in-stature” actor, Tom something or other. The movie’s at the part where Colonel Jessup is on the witness stand; You know? They’re close to the part where he says, “You can’t handle the truth!” I’m not really trying to make a point about anything here. I’m just letting you know that Ryan and I are watching TV. It’s nice hanging out with him.

Speaking of the Truth…

John 14:6   Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52   Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/14/18

Tomorrow, I’m going to take away the last dose of Topomax; which, if there are no adverse affects for a couple/few weeks, will mark the successful elimination of yet another of Ryan’s meds. Please pray that Ryan will show no adverse signs…

His big toe is still sensitive since he had the ingrown toenail removed last week. Thanks for that, Mr. Obvious. It’ll take a while for it to heal. Again, thanks M.O…Anyway, we soak it in Epsom Salts a few times daily so it will sooth the pain and help it to heal. Ryan is tough, and seems to take it well…with the help of medicine. Please pray that underneath his calmness, that he really is feeling no pain. My biggest fear is that he is uncomfortable in any way.

Please Lord, I pray you’ll be Ryan’s comfort, and allow no discomfort to befall him. And, please make him whole while he sleeps tonight. I/we ask this Jesus’ Most Holy Name…Amen

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/13/18

Ryan’s weekend NOC nurse who currently works two nights, has agreed to take on an additional night. Woo Hoo!! Praise God for this! Please continue to pray for a couple more nurses; one each to take on the day and evening shifts during the week. Then I’ll only have to work 60 hours per week give or take. But for now, I’ll do whatever is needed for my boy…

Janine and I had a date night tonight. Went out to dinner and a movie. When we came home, we went in to visit Ryan who was sound asleep…and I mean sound asleep. Hopefully, he’ll sleep through the night. Sweet dreams Little King…that’s the Irish meaning of the name Ryan…although, he ain’t so little anymore.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/12/18

1 John 3:17-18   But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 1/11/18

Took Ryan to the doctor’s office this morning to get an ingrown toenail fixed. He pretty much slept through the entire thing, because he was up again all last night and into the wee hours of this morning (4 A.M.). Somehow his clock has gotten off, as he’s been pulling this stunt for the past few days…sleeping all day and up all night. The silver lining is, it makes my nights more interesting.

He’s awake at the moment, so perhaps he’ll stay that way for the remainder of the today and actually sleep tonight. Either way, I’m just honored to be able to watch him. I’d say I’m happy to watch him, but I’d be much happier if he was healthy and I didn’t have to watch over him…or, at least, I could be watching him doing “normal” stuff…

Hope y’all had a great day on purpose! Remember to Praise and Thank God for today’s blessings and lessons…
