Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/30/18

Every day, I get on my computer and have it pop up a random Bible verse. This is the one I got today…

1 John 4:10    This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

I think it’s a pretty good verse. Don’t you?

Ryan and I started the book of 1 Chronicles today. Please forgive me Lord, but someone’s going to have to wake us when it’s over…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/29/18

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night already! I mean, didn’t I type Happy Friday just a couple of days ago? What’s worse, it’s already the tail end of April, and soon Christmas will be at our doorsteps. Even worse than that, I had another birthday, and I’m one step closer to…well, you know…Oh wait! That’s actually a good thing. Eternity’s going to be the coolest thing ever…

Ryan and I are recovering from a weekend full of…I can’t tell you, because what happens in the Buchanan house when the cat’s away, stays in the Buchanan house…

Night y’all. See ya on Monday…which is less than three hours away for those of us on the west coast…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/28/18

With Janine up in Mt. Shasta with her parents, Ryan and I partied like it was 1999, and we’ll be doing the same tomorrow, as she’ll be gone until the evening. When the cat’s away…Guy’s gotta let loose every once in a while. I’m so glad Janine doesn’t ever read these posts.

Truth be told, it was a very quite day. I think I was sleeping with my eyes open while Ryan slept during the first few hours of my watch. Then, we entered about 50-60 codes of our Monopoly game cards onto the Safeway game app. As a result, we got several free items; a couple donuts, a box of pasta, a can of tomato sauce, a bottle of Vitamin water, a can of whole kernel corn and a bag of frozen veggies. It’s pasta primavera time. We’ll be dining fine tonight! If only we could’ve won some free hot dogs. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm…

Hope y’alls weekend is of to as great a start as ours is!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/27/18

Ryan forgot to wish his Uncle Bart a very happy birthday yesterday. How could you forget, Ryan?? It’s obvious Ryan had much better things to do, like spending time with his wonderful father figure watching reruns of Gilmore Girls…Oops! I meant Gotham…

Happy Friday Y’all! Time for bed…ZZZzzzzz

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/26/18

Those who come to see Ryan on a daily and/or occasional visit, know we don’t hold back talking about our faith. Who knows? The next person who commits their life to Christ may just be the last one saved before His triumphant return…

Think about that the next time you pass up an opportunity to witness…

Earth or Heaven??

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/25/18

Many of you know I used to be a salesman. And, some of you still think I’m trying to sell something, but that’s for another discussion. With regard to my past profession, my sales cycle could take anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to sell something to any given account…that’s if after any given period of time, those accounts actually ended up purchasing something; which, a majority of the time, they did not. Anyway, the point is that when I did make a sale (aside from the money) there came with it a great deal of personal satisfaction from being patient and persistent; some things that took many years for me to learn to be comfortable with. And honestly, I’m still learning to be comfortable with them. Much of God’s plan for me has been to teach me patience and persistence; attributes that I’ve been taught not only from various jobs, but through many events during my entire (very short…I’m 39)life. His plan has prepared me to be patient for Ryan’s healing, and persistent in prayer for his healing in His time; something that comes quite naturally to me because of past jobs, life lessons, and etc.

So, when I perform a menial task, such as mowing the lawn, turning over the soil in my garden, painting a room, and other things that don’t take very long, I get a great amount of satisfaction having seen something completed in such a short period of time. I hope I explained that properly. It’s late, and I don’t feel like editing…

Point is: BE PATIENT, BE PERSISTENT, LEARN IN VICTORY AND ESPECIALLY IN FAILURE, ENJOY THE PROCESS, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. MOST IMPORTANTLY THOUGH, KNOW DEEP IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND HE’LL HEAL AND REDEEM US IN HIS TIME. OH, AND DON’T FORGET TO THANK AND PRAISE HIM FOR IT!

Final thought for the day: Instant gratification takes too long.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/24/18

Warriors win! It’s gotta be the armor Ryan’s sporting. Speaking of armor…

Ephesians 6:10-17   Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Bring on the Pelicans!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/23/18

Ryan and I enjoyed the beautiful day that the Lord made…as is the case each and every day He allows us to breathe. We begin each day spending time reading the Bible. We began a couple-few weeks ago (I can’t remember exactly); reading it from beginning to end. Today we finished the book of 1st Samuel. Can’t wait until tomorrow to get into it again…

Hope y’all enjoyed your day (Or is it days? Where’s a Spanglish teacher when you need one?) on and with purpose!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/22/18

It was a beautiful day today, so Janine took Ryan outside for the first time in a long time. There’s nothing like fresh air to calm the soul. Ryan seemed to enjoy it. Thank you mom! And, thank you Lord for the beautiful sunshine! What a truly spectacular day you made for us.

Psalm 19:1   The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/21/18

Ryan’s noc nurse is sick this weekend, and while I wish her a speedy recovery, I’m not upset at the fact that I get to watch him for a couple of extra shifts. Watching him throughout the night, I get a small sense of how God must feel when He watches over His flock by night. It’s pure joy!

Genesis 28:15   I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

Psalm 121:8   The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
