Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/10/18

Ryan had a relatively busy day today. His grandparents did their PT work on him. A staff member from “Futures Explored” read to him for a half and hour, watched a movie for the other half. He and I watched a movie, and then witness the annihilation of the Warriors this evening. It’s okay. They’re in the playoffs, and that’ll be fun…for however long they last.

Ryan still needs prayer for the healing of his big toe and the skin surrounding the entrance of his G-tube. He’s got an appointment scheduled a couple of weeks from now to have them looked at again, and for treatment recommendation. I sure hope he’s not in any pain from either of them…or anything else for that matter.

Lord willing, tomorrow’s a new day, and it’s going to be another good one. It’s all about attitude…oh, and God’s mercy and grace. All praise belongs to him. It is well with our souls…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/9/18

I actually forgot to post something yesterday, because I went to bed early last night for a couple of reasons: 1. My battery was running low, so I went in my room to plug my phone in to charge, and 2. I laid down on the bed for just a second, and woke up at around 3 in the morning (I should have given you a call Shawna, because I know you were still awake :~) Sorry about that.

It was important for me to plug my phone in and not let it die, because it’s my alarm in the morning. Last week it went dead, and as a result I didn’t get up on time to relieve the noc nurse. Janine came to the rescue (as she was up early), and covered for me while I scrambled to get ready. I don’t have that luxury this week, as Janine’s out-of-town on business. If my phone dies and I don’t get up, it wouldn’t be a good thing. So, I apologize for being a bonehead…once again.

Anyway, it’s always a joy to watch Ryan. I’d rather be throwing a football around with him, or watching him play the drums and/or guitar (not at the same time, of course), or singing, or just plain walking, running, talking to him, watching him eat on his own and all of the other things that healthy people do. And, while I’m hoping and praying to do/see any of those things here on earth, there’s the hope and joy of knowing I’ll get to in Heaven. And, according to God, it’ll be soon…

Revelation 22:12-13   Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

Ryan really had a great week. All his nurses say so: how exceptional he’s been this week. What would really be exceptional in my book, is Ryan’s complete healing. Wouldn’t that be something??

Easter celebration was a week ago, but Christ’s resurrection should be celebrated every day. Let’s keep it going…

John 11:25-26   Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Well, do you??

Ryan’s eye looked a lot better at the end of today. One ailment down, two more to go. He is such a trooper. Never complains and never gives up. We could all learn a lesson or two from him…

“I just checked my account balance at the ATM. It printed me a coupon for Ramen noodles.”

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/6/18

Apologies to all who, with bated breath, lay awake at night for my latest musing. I fell asleep without posting. Ryan and I have been more tired than usual this week. Not sure why. Perhaps because Ryan’s had a sty in his eye, and it’s been bothering him. Perhaps it’s the weather. Perhaps the pollen in the air. Perhaps all of the above, and more.

We took Ryan to the doctor yesterday to check on a few issues he’s having. One: There’s some irritation around his G-Tube that’s been lingering for several months now. We made another appointment a couple of weeks from now with the surgeons, who will determine what’s needed to correct the issue. Two: His big toe has not fully healed from the procedure  he had back in January to remove an ingrown toenail. We’ll make another appointment with the doctor who performed that procedure to see what needs to be done to correct that issue. And then, there’s the eye thing, which the doctor said looks to be getting better. So, we’ll wait and see about it. His eye looks much better today.

Anyway, I pray these and all other things ailing Ryan will quickly become things of the past, and that he will be made whole. Lord, Please heal my son…

For those of you who don’t look at Luke’s Caring Bridge website, here’s the latest about him…

“Thankfully chemo treatment #8 went smoothly –  only 4 more left to go.  yeah!! Luke slept pretty much the entire time. We were there longer than normal because sadly, they had a room full of patients receiving treatments.  Luke’s counts were down again and so he has to be REALLY careful not to be around crowds or anyone who is sick.

He is usually tired the first few days after treatment, but by Monday feels good enough to go back to work and sometimes taking a nap when he gets home.  He cut out taking the steroid pills he was first taking at the beginning that helped him gain a good 25 lbs.  He’s happy he has been maintaining that weight.

Thanks again for all your prayers. They are working!  I will be lifting you all up in prayer at mass on Easter. Wishing you and your families a blessed and Happy Easter!  He’s Alive!”

Thank you all for praying for Luke, and Bernard, and Fred, and Ryan, and…God asks us to continue to pray, so that’s what we should do…

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18   Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Romans 12:12   Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Ryan would like to give a huge shout out to his Grandpa Ray for his birthday. You rock! Or is it, you’re as old as rocks? I forget…Anyway, Happy Birthday Grandpa, and thanks for coming to visit me on Easter!

“A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair, and gold in his heart.” – Author unknown

Ryan’s afternoon nurse, Anthony, also has a birthday today and took the day off, so I have had the pleasure of hanging out with Ryan all day. He’s been doing well…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/2/18

Hegette   noun: The term Ryan used for “headache” when he was two, and what I have had for the past several hours. And I rarely ever get hegettes. Oh well…

So, one day removed from Easter Day, but our Savior still lives!

Jesus died for you in public. Don’t live for Him in private. Tell a friend…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/1/18

Easter is a season of great gladness for those who know Christ. But for those who are without “the light of the knowledge of God’s glory” (2 Corinthians 4:6), there is nothing to rejoice over.

Jesus left us with the great hope and certainty that He is going to return to bring a new Heaven and a new earth where, we are told, there will be no more sorrow, trouble, or death for those who have believed and followed Him. There will be trouble, sorrow, and suffering for those who have neglected or rejected Him.

As Christians, our great task is to obey the command to tell the whole world about Christ crucified, buried, yet risen again. My prayer for you during this season of the year, when we meditate on our Savior’s great sacrifice for us on the cross, is that you will be filled with great peace and hope, because “He is risen!” That is the Good News.

As you follow Christ, are you obeying His command to tell others that He is risen indeed?  – Billy Graham

Be sure to tell the people you say you like and/or love (and even some you may not) about Christ’s love for them. That way, they’ll know you love them…
