Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/31/18

Two days left until Ryan’s party. We’re so grateful for all these years we’ve had with him. He’s such an awesome kid…oops, I mean young man. And, even though he’s been incapacitated for the past 7 years, he’s still making more of an impact on the world than I have ever made in my entire life…and he’s not finished yet. All parents should be so blessed to have a child like Ryan. Thank you Lord for our boy/s!!

 

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/30/18

Ryan’s been very relaxed these past few days. I imagine he’s storing up energy so he can party hard on Saturday. To celebrate another year of someone’s life is a wonderful thing, especially when that someone is as special as Ryan. We’ve been preparing lots of food for the occasion, so please come and help us devour it. You really don’t want to look back on your life and regret missing out on good food…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/29/18

Psalm 116:15-19   Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, Lord; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains. I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the Lordin your midst, Jerusalem.

Ryan and I read this passage this morning, and it really spoke to us. We’ll be doing some digging into it tomorrow. Tonight, we’re going to meditate on it until we fall asleep…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/28/18

You’ve gotta hand it to the Warriors. Despite being down, they never gave up and ultimately were victorious. I believe there’s a good lesson in there somewhere, wouldn’t you agree? The lesson for me is clear; and especially when it comes to Ryan’s situation. Even though he’s down at the moment, I will never give up on praying for his complete healing. Don’t you think never giving up on a person’s life is more important than a silly game? I do…

I know there are more important things (people, needs, etc.) in your lives that need your prayers and your rooting on. Bring them to the very feet of the Lord God Almighty!

Go Warriors! And waaaaaayyyyyyyy more importantly, GO RYAN!!!!!!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/27/18

Ryan had a great weekend, and is looking forward to a great week and even greater weekend next, when he’ll be partying like “the man” on his birthday! Know that he’ll be praying for you all throughout the week; that God will greatly bless each and every one of you.

One of the nice things about writing these posts is it causes me to reflect on each day, and to count all the blessings and miracles God’s done for Ryan and our family. It’s overwhelming sometimes to think about God’s goodness, His grace, toward us. And many of the blessings come from y’all in through emails/comments/etc. Thank you Debbie for reminding me of the following passage which encapsulates so much of who I/we need to be…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/26/18

Exactly one week (give or take a few hours) before we celebrate Ryan’s 24th (If my math’s correct. It never was my strong suit.) birthday! We’re excited to see and visit with so many who’ve celebrated with us all these years (and maybe even some new people). Anyway, we hope and pray y’all will join us!

Speaking of praying; Ryan and I pray every day for y’all. We pray God’s blessings and protection around you and yours. Hopefully, our prayers are working for you just as yours do so for us. We appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottoms of our souls!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/24/18 Birthday Party Invite

It’s that time of year again! We’ll be celebrating another year in the life of Ryan at our house on Saturday, June 2nd (that’s 9 days from now) from 2:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. There’ll be lots of food, fun, music, story telling, laughing, belly dancing (for those who are feeling it), and many other things people do at birthday parties…

I know Ryan would love to see each and every one of you, and to thank you personally for praying for and supporting him all these years. We hope you’ll join us in wishing him a Very Happy Birthday!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/23/18

When bald people wash their faces, how high up do they go? I’m asking for a friend…

Ryan won’t have to worry about going bald any time soon…if ever. Both our boys have got a full head of thick hair, Come to think of it, so did I when I was their ages. I’ve got thick hair now. It’s just not all on my head…

Was an odd day today, weather-wise. It was overcast and didn’t even reach 70 degrees. We’re not complaining, however, because every day the Lord gives us is a great day! And, we take advantage of every moment on and with purpose.

James 4:14   Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

John 8:2   Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/22/18

I don’t understand why people say hurtful things like, “Wanna go for a run?” or “Try this kale.” Some people have no filter whatsoever…

Ryan had a good day today, despite the Warriors’ loss. And, while we talk like it’s the end of the world when they lose, the reality is their losing isn’t that important to us. There are plenty of things in our lives that are far more important; things like, do our family and friends know about Jesus? Is God at the center of our lives? Are we being kind to one another? And my favorite, What’s for dinner tonight? Seriously though, we need to make sure our priorities are in the correct order. It would be a sad day if everyone was upset about losing a game, but didn’t give a second thought to losing a family member or friend without them knowing Christ…

Matthew 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
