Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Guard your heart…
HEART noun: the locus of feelings and intuitions; the choicest or most essential or most vital part of some idea or experience
Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
After mine own heart…
God called David “a man after His own heart”. Despite all of David’s shortcomings/imperfections (to put it mildly), God honored and blessed David. Why? Because David had absolute faith in God and did whatever God asked him to do.
If God honored David (an adulterer and murderer), just think what He will do for you/me (with all of our shortcomings/imperfections) if we have absolute faith in Him.
You know, we can move mountains if we have faith the size of a mustard seed?
Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Oh! And, you can move mulberry trees too! Luke 17:6
Ryan’s been doing really well these past few weeks. All vitals are right where they need to be. He’s making my job really easy. Y’all should enjoy your jobs as much as I do. Okay, mine’s not really a job. It’s getting to hang out with my son every day. My commute is about 100 feet from my bedroom to his. With traffic the way it is these days, I’m grateful I’m not having to fight it. We watch TV, listen to music, read, relax, sleep, talk (I do most of the talking…so what else is new?), eat…and pretty much anything we want.
Now, if God will restore him to brand new, we can run, dance, shoot pool, swim and do all sorts of physical activities. Eh, who am I kidding? If/when he’s completely restored, he’ll want to get as far away from me as he can. He’ll want to hang out with his friends. Can’t say that I blame him. And, that’s quite alright with me…
Lord, Please heal my son now. I will be forever grateful. Amen
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
This little light of mine…I’m gonna let it shine…
Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!
Ryan never hid the Light under a bushel. No! He always let it shine. Still does…
I’m going to bed early tonight, so tomorrow will come more quickly and I can watch Ryan. We’ll start the day, as always, by reading the Bible. We’re somewhere in the book of Ezekiel.
Psalm 119:103 How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
We made it home…and, in good time too. YAHOO! The only delay was between Vacaville and Fairfield where traffic came to a slow crawl while people gawked at the burnt grass from yesterday’s fire….OOOOOOOOOOO! Spectacular site!!!! NOT! What a waste of valuable time…
Anyway, we are happy to be home. We got to see Ryan, and he seems happy to see us. He opened his eyes when we came into his room. Of course, anybody would open their eyes after being woken up by all the racket we made. So, I’m not so sure he was glad to see us. We were, however, very happy to see him. It’ll be nice to get back into the daily routine of spending time with and watching over him…
Thanks for supporting him in prayer while we were away. Your prayers worked…
Hope y’all are having a great weekend on purpose!
Tomorrow, we’ll be getting up at 5 A.M. to begin our 9+ hour drive home. Vacation has been fun, but I can’t wait to see Ryan tomorrow night! Not looking forward to all the smoke, though.
THEIY’RE…Problem solved. You’s are welcome!
I know y’all will jump up and down to know we are alive and well…that Janine is anyway. WiFi has been either non-existent or slower than molasses (Like I really sit around watching molasses to see how slow it goes…), so that’s why no posts. We’ve been in NorCal and Oregon the past several days. The smoke from all the fires covered all of NorCal and well past Grants Pass, Or. We’re on the coast now, and happy to be breathing fresh air.
Ryan is also alive and well…well for him. We did leave him in good hands, after all. We PRAISE GOD for that!
Zareena posted this on FB, and it really got me to thinking (perhaps the reason there’s really smoke all-around us)…
“From dark clouds we get precious water…
From dark mines we get valuable jewels…
And, from our darkest trials come our best blessings from God…”
Have you ever come through a dark period in your life, no matter how short or long? First, you came through it. Second, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Third, somehow it can change your perspective about things.
Ryan’s circumstance has changed me in so many ways…and despite being a difficult situation, I’ve received some of the best blessings from God that I never would have had it not happened.
Think about a trial you went through, and see how it changed you for the better. Cling to and PRAISE GOD for that!
See you on the flip side…
Vacation Day 1: Ryan seemed to be excited when we left this morning for vacation, knowing that both his parents were gone. I know what he was thinking…PARTY TIME! Boy, is he going to be disappointed when he finds out his grandparents are going to be there to keep an eye on things in our absence. Wait a minute! Aren’t grandparents the ones who spoil their grandchildren and let them get away with things? DOH! We may have to cut our vacation short…
Genesis 31:49b May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.
Tomorrow, Janine and I will be departing for a week-long vacation up north. Most likely, posts will be spotty to non-existent, depending upon WiFi speed/availability in any given destination. Please hold your applaud for the fact you won’t have to hear from me. You know I’m sensitive…
We’re leaving Ryan in the good hands of his Grandparents, nurses, and of course, you all. We know you’ll be keeping him in your prayers, even without any reminders. And, we thank God for you for that!
So with that, I’ll leave you with this…
“Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl.”
The priest asks, “Is that you, little Joey Pagano?”
“Yes, Father, it is.”
“And who was the…girl you were with?”
“I can’t tell you, Father. I don’t want to ruin her reputation.”
“Well, Joey, I’m sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?”
“I cannot say.”
“Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?”
“I’ll never tell.”
“Was it Nina Capelli?”
“I’m sorry, but I cannot name her.”
“Was it Cathy Piriano?”
“My lips are sealed.”
“Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?”
“Please, Father! I cannot tell you.”
The priest sighs in frustration. “You’re very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you’ve sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.”
Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, “What’d you get?”
“Four months vacation and five good leads…”
Have a wonderful week on purpose!!
Today, Ryan, Kristie (from Futures Explored) and I watched a documentary on PBS about the making of Star Wars. Ryan was fully engaged for most of the show. Both he and Jacob have seen at least the first three (actually 4, 5 & 6 for those of you in the know)…even though they are millennials, because Janine and I made sure the were well versed in the “classics”. Classics! Really? Wow, I’m saying they’re classics and the first one came out in ’77…or was it ’78? Shows you how much I was paying attention. Please don’t test me on it. Anyway, Ryan seemed to enjoy that particular segment of today. And, he was very comfortable the rest of my shift as well…
I’m looking forward to watching him again tomorrow. It’s so nice to be around him…
