Today, Ryan and I finished reading the Old Testament and started on the New. Here is one of my favorite passages…
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
We’ll probably be stuck on Chapter 5 for a few days…only because I’ve got a lot of work to do to be any of these…
Poor Ryan’s just gonna have to wait, even though he’s got most of these down…
Our funds are running low, and therefore I’ve decided to take on a brave new adventure in order to do my part in supporting my family. I’ll be selling adult toys. I hope no one is embarrassed to order them. Discretion is guaranteed! I have all kinds, sizes and styles according to your needs. I’ve had the chance to try a few in the last couple years, and can vouch for and highly recommend them. Hit me up anytime. Everything I have is listed below & more if needed:
Wheelchairs, canes & walkers, scooters, knee, wrist & elbow braces, plantar fasciitis braces, blood circulating machine thing, crutches, shower chair, ice packs, heating pads, etc.
Ryan had a good day today. As always, we pray for all y’all’s peace and comfort that only God can give.
NORMAL adjective: conforming with or constituting a norm or standard or level or type or social norm; not abnormal
That definition clears it up for me. How ’bout you?
Things were back to normal during my shift, in that Ryan slept the entire time. I’m glad he feels comfortable doing that (like I really know what he feels). It’s like when someone falls asleep while your driving. They trust you’re in control, and will do a good job not to put either one of you in danger. Either that, or they’ve passed out because they’ve consumed too much alcohol. I realize there are other reasons why someone would fall asleep in the car while you’re driving. Feel free to write them down. I’ll just stick with these two for now.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. Consuming too much alcohol. No, wait! Not that part…The fact that Ryan sleeps during my shift, has become the norm, and if that’s what it takes for him to heal, it’s alright by me. God’s knows what he’s feeling, and in the end, that’s all that counts. Perhaps some day (or when I’m in heaven…if I’m blessed enough to make it) He’ll share with me what’s going on with Ryan while he’s sleeping. I’d rather Ryan would tell me himself…but I’m just grateful for the opportunity to watch over him…for now.
Lord, Please watch over my son while I sleep tonight, and allow me the privilege of relieving you tomorrow morning…
Was up in Mt. Shasta yesterday, so no post due to very slow internet. Speaking of very slow, Soy lento en la Cabeza which makes for some extremely dull reading. I know y’all are relieved to have been spared from my dribble…
Anyway, on the drive up to Shasta, there were fire fighters fighting fires yards from the freeway. Helicopters were scooping water from a nearby lake, flying over the freeway and dumping it on the fires. Smoke was everywhere. I must have seen at least 100 fire trucks during the drive from Redding all the way to the mountain. The landscape on both sides of the freeway was ominous.
The devastation of the Delta fire (as it’s been dubbed) reminds me of the aftermath of the Mt. St. Helens eruption back in 2008. Was that only 10 years ago? For some reason, it seems like it was longer ago than that? Is that sentence grammatically correct? Any English teachers out there want to help me out? Told you I was slow…
Please pray for the safety of firefighters fighting fires not only in the Shasta region, but all over the world. They truly are brave…
Was nice to see Ryan upon getting back. He didn’t have much to say. Isn’t that just like him? But, I know he was happy to see me, and that’s all that counts. At least in this dim wit’s mind it is…
Ask and you shall receive. Ryan’s such an incredible son! As I requested of him yesterday, he opened his eyes the minute I walked into his room at 7 this morning, and remained awake (with the exception of a few 15 minute naps) throughout my entire shift! I am so blessed!! Thank you Lord!!
Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
EXCELLENT NEWS ABOUT LUKE SOUZA!! (from today’s Caring Bridge post)
“Luke had a PET scan on 9/12 and we met with the doctor today and were told his scan looks great! The cancer is dead and the scar tissue is smaller in size. Yeah! Hallelujah! He will see the doctor every 3-4 months for a checkup and blood work, and have two more scans over the next two years. We are grateful for this good news!!
Thank you all SO VERY MUCH for all your prayers and kind thoughts. They are greatly appreciated!
The Souza Family”
I believe God moves into action when we ask him to, according to His will. So, keep asking Him for whatever is on your heart. He’ll move, although it may not be how we had expected Him to. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
1 Thessalonians 5:16-19 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.
Ryan typically sleeps through my entire shift, and today was no different. I’d say he was like any other teenager, but he’s not been a teenager for several years now. So, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s got something to do with me. Am I not entertaining enough? I guess singing, playing my saxophone, dancing around the room (not in my underwear…or am I?), turning the music up, telling corny jokes, etc. isn’t enough. I’m going to have to turn it up a notch and see if I can get him to wake up and say hello. Or, maybe I should just be as quiet as a church mouse and pretend I’m not there. And maybe, just maybe, I can catch him peeking. Eh, who am I kidding? I’ve got about as much of a chance at that as I do catching Bigfoot dancing…in his underwear…
Lord, Please heal Ryan today. I’d be extremely grateful, as would a lot of other people. Thank you. Amen
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…
Love always, in all ways…
Today, while watching an episode of Game of Thrones, Ryan decided to do his best impression of Brandon Stark. This is some serious acting on his part. Just think how much money he could make as an actor…
Or, is this a picture of his reaction to one of my corny jokes? I can’t tell anymore…
Let’s start off this week with a little levity, shall we?
Actual church signs seen across America:
“Get behind me satin.”
“How do we make holy water? We boil the hell out of it.”
“Don’t let worries kill you. Let the church help.”
“Adam & Eve: The first people to not read the Apple terms and conditions.”
“Having trouble sleeping? We have sermons. Come hear one!”
“The next time you’re afraid to share ideas, remember someone once said in a meeting, “Let’s make a film with a tornado filled with sharks.””
And my personal favorite…
Have yourselves a glorious week on purpose! xoxox
