Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/20/18

CIRCUMSTANCE   noun:   the set of facts that surround a situation or event; facts which should be kept in mind or considered when making a decision

I had a headache pretty much all day yesterday, and finally took some medicine and went to bed earlier than usual, so no post. You didn’t miss much, however, because Ryan had another “normal” day…normal for him anyway. He was in good hands with Janine, and then his afternoon and noc nurses. I’m getting to watch him now, and he’s sleeping away the morning; something I wish I could be doing. But, there’s no other place I’d rather be if I didn’t get to watch him. Although, truth be told, I’d rather be almost anywhere else, because if he were a “normal”, healthy person, there wouldn’t be the need to have to watch over him, and we could be living “normal” lives. What is a “normal” life anyway? Is there such a thing? Isn’t life just life? Perhaps I’m confusing “normal” with “good” or “bad”. Now, that makes more sense. In that context, what makes a life good or bad? Is it based on one’s circumstance? If that’s the case, then why, in some cases, do two people in the same circumstance…let’s say two billionaires (or hundredaires like me), or identical twins growing up in the same household, or two professionals of equal standing in an organization, or other examples like these (and maybe these are poor examples)…one turns out happy, and the other is miserable? Why is that? Many people would say my life is “bad” because of Ryan’s situation. While I would rather Ryan not be injured (and the same thought goes out for pretty much everyone I know), I don’t consider my life bad. But why? Why don’t I consider my life bad? Well, the number one answer to that is I believe in God, and made the decision to know Jesus as my personal savior. God’s plan for my and Ryan’s life is much bigger than we can ever imagine or understand, and I know in my heart He only wants what’s best for us. And what’s best for us is eternal life in Heaven. What better “never-ending” circumstance could there ever be? I’m sure glad I learned about the facts surrounding Jesus and made the decision to follow Him. My life is “good”…

My pea-sized brain has a headache again. That’s what I get for thinking too hard…

Y’all have a blessed day on purpose! It’s your choice…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/19/18

Ryan’s made it through another 5 days (I’d say week, but the week isn’t over). Come to think of it, so have we…me, and those of you that are reading this. That means, God’s still got something for all of us to do. Why don’t you ask him what it is? And, when He tells you, please tell me, because I’m not sure what He wants me to do.

Oh wait!

2 Corinthians 8:21   For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.

Never mind. I do know…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/18/18

Ryan had a bit of a temperature again this morning, but Tylenol did the trick. The last time this happened (6 or 7 months ago, I think), he had the same temp pattern for about three days. So, he should be back to normal either tomorrow or the next day. I just pray he’s not distressed or in pain. I really do pray God would take his pain/condition away completely or give it to me, so Ryan doesn’t have to suffer. I’d trade places with him in a heartbeat…

On a lighter note:

Lucy: What makes the world go around Charlie Brown?

Charlie Brown: Fat bottomed girls.

Sweet dreams y’all…zzzzzzzzzzz

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/17/18

With all of the banter/meanness in the media regarding politics these days, causing friends to go against friends, family against family, athletes against actors, etc., I’m glad the Bible addresses this issue and straightens it out…

I received an email from a person who states, “I have often wondered why it is that the conservatives are called ‘the right’, and liberals are called ‘the left’. By chance, I stumbled across this verse in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV): The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of a fool, to the left. Yep, that’s it!”

There you have it. Any questions, talk to God…

Ryan had a bit of a temperature this morning, and seemed to have been fighting something off. As usual, he prevailed! Hallelujah!!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/16/18

To prevent Ryan from getting bed sores every two hours, he needs to be turned from his back, then to one side, then to the other, then repeat. It really pulls on my heart-strings to do this one task, because most of the time during my shift I have to disturb him from a very deep sleep. Think about it. Would you want to be awoken from a deep sleep every two hours? Granted, it’s better than bed sores, but I still feel badly about having to do it. The good news is, because we’ve painstakingly done this for the past seven years, he hasn’t gotten any bed sores.

I do love taking care of my son, although I wish I didn’t have to…meaning, I really wish God would heal him completely…now.

Today we finished reading the book of Mark, and tomorrow we’ll begin the book of Luke. I love reading the Gospel books. HE IS RISEN!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/14/18

Don’t know what was up with my computer cable. We just got home and I plugged it in, and it seems to be working fine. Must be SoCal. It lacks in so many ways…

Needless to say, we’re glad to be back, and to, once again, see our oldest boy…um, I mean young man. He looks good, but tired and ready to go to sleep for the night. So, I won’t bother him, until tomorrow when I get to watch him. It’ll be nice getting back into a routine. There’s something to be said about a routine. Drawing outside of the lines is nice every once in a while, but it gets old quick…especially at my age. Way back when I used to be able to…ah, I won’t go there. No sense in reliving the glory days. There are better, more glorious days to come…

John 14:2-4   My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

PAST   adjective:   earlier than the present time; no longer current

noun:   a verb tense that expresses actions or states in the past, the time that has elapsed

Here are some pretty good reasons not to live in the past…

Isaiah 43:18-19   “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Philippians 3:13-14   Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18   Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

Janine and I are leaving tomorrow to visit Jacob for the weekend. It’s gonna be fun, but we’ll miss Ryan. He’s been doing really well. Please pray he continues this excellent trend…Thank you!
