Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/19/18

A little Christmas humor for your Wednesday listening pleasure:

How to start a fight: One year I bought my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift. The next year I didn’t buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, “Well, you still haven’t used the gift I got you last year.” And that’s how the fight started…

Have you heard the latest? Radio stations are now pulling ‘Do You Hear What I Hear’ from their Christmas playlists because apparently it’s offensive to schizophrenics.

What kind of music do elves listen to? Christmas Wrap

What says ‘Oh! Oh! Oh!’? Santa walking backwards.

From what does Santa suffer if he gets stuck in a chimney? Claustrophobia!

Sweet dreams y’all…

Did a little Christmas shopping this afternoon. I know, it’s not Christmas Eve, but I just had to get out. For the past several years it’s been a bit difficult/sad to shop, because I really would like to get Ryan all the things a young man his age would/should enjoy, but he can’t use any of them given his condition. Perhaps one day…

I suppose the only gift he can use for now is my love; which I will gladly give generously…

Lord, I know Ryan is already healed in heaven, but I humbly ask you to please heal him now. Thank you! Amen

1 John 4:7   Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/17/18

Ryan and I listened to Christmas music pretty much all day today…with the exception of watching part of the movie “Amadeus” with his Futures Explored companion (Futures Explored is the organization that sends someone for and hour every day to visit Ryan). It had been a while since we’ve watched this movie, and I must say it’s one of my favorites of all time. The portrayal of Salieri was done so well…so well in fact, it won an Oscar for F. Murray Abraham. Bet you didn’t know his name…truth be told, neither did I until I looked it up. I especially like the parts where he speaks about God; giving Mozart all of the talent, how he covets it, etc. And the music…oh the music. It was/is truly of God. Magnificent movie! And, a high recommend you watch it over and over…Ryan and I won’t wait long to watch it again…

Speaking of Christmas…Our friend Don posted this on his FB page today…

Greatest man in history, named Jesus, had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet he conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. An amazing gift. I am so grateful.

It’s going to rain today. Wait, no it’s not. Oh, here comes some rain. Wow, it’s now sunny! It’s going to be sunny. No wait! Cloudy. More rain. This is what it says on my phone day after day after day after…So, Ryan and I enjoyed the wet, dry, cold and warm and wet again; all with a slight breeze. It’s really fun to watch God messing with all the weathermen from the coziness of his room…They must be impatient…like me…

Here’s to God watching over us whilst we sleep, and granting us another day tomorrow to praise Him for who He is! God is great!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 12/13/18

So, I get a call this morning from son number two, saying that instead of driving home tomorrow for Christmas break, he’s wondering if it would be alright to fly to Hawaii instead to hang out with his friends for a week.

Me: Uh okay. Did you talk to your mom? She’d like to see you. I thought you were missing us and wanted to come home.

Jacob: But, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity…blah blah blah…I didn’t hear much after that.

Me: When do you want to leave and come back?

Jacob: Leave tomorrow and come back on the 22nd.

Me: Okay…

10 hours later, a couple of changed flight dates, plus a few hundred dollars more, and he’s all set. Good thing he plans ahead. For whatever reason, God still thinks I’m not patient enough…

PROVERBS 21:5   The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

Jacob’s lack of planning is going to make me poor…

Birthdays are good for your health. Studies show that people who have more birthdays live longer.

Why is Miss Universe always from earth?

You don’t need a parachute to skydive. You need a parachute to skydive twice.

My favorite essential oil is bacon grease.

Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn’t fit any of your containers.

Sometimes I wonder what happened to the people who ask me for directions.

I thank God my name was on the wake up list today!

KIND   adjective:   having or showing a tender and considerate and helpful nature; used especially of persons and their behavior

In other words: RYAN

You’ve all heard the saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Well, I don’t believe that for a minute. After all, I’m old, and I’m learning new tricks all the time…or am I? I’d like to think I can be taught new things.  Perhaps I simply need to practice more; and by more I mean often. I want to be kind always, so I need to meditate on it always, and act kindly always. With God’s help, I can do it…and will. From now on (and I hope y’all will keep me accountable) I’m always going to be kind. Y’all have the right to smack me when I fail. Did I say that out loud? My face is going to be hurting, but that’s okay…

Romans 11:33   Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

Pretty much says God’s attributes are limitless. By contrast, I am limited in every way. It’s okay, because I’m pretty sure I couldn’t handle knowing any more than I know now, because I don’t know what to do with what I do know or don’t…know, that is…

Had a little bit of everything today, as far as the weather was concerned…overcast, rain, sunshine, warm, cold. Variety’s good…That’s one thing I like about Ryan; he’s got so many different talents…makes him a fun guy to be around. It’s rough sometimes seeing him lying there with all that talent just waiting to burst out. Hmmm…perhaps one day…

Psalm 103:2   Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

Lord, Watch over us as we sleep tonight, and if you grant us a tomorrow, let us continue to praise you with all that we are!
