Many of you have asked about Ryan’s new program/therapy. This is not a new therapy, but an old one that we’re really controlling this time. Before, it was done randomly throughout the week, and we weren’t really keeping track of the results. The results either happen or don’t happen, and they happen at certain times. What we’re doing is a series of what I call sensory perception tests; tests of smell, sight, hearing, etc. For example, we’ll put random fragrances (essential oils, etc.) in front of his nose and note how he reacts. We’ll ask him to look at different colored objects to see if he prefers one over another. Last week we showed him some dull colors and some shiny colors, and he seemed to be interested in the shiny colors more so than the dull ones. I mean, who isn’t attracted to shiny things? Anyway, all of his responses, whether positive or negative, are now being documented so we can evaluate them over a period of time to determine whether it is beneficial to purchase some sort of technological device (device TBD) to try to communicate with him. There’s a lot of new technology out there that is capable of communication by the slightest movement of say a finger, or eye blink, etc. The hope and prayer is that Ryan will have something consistent that could possibly be a way for him to communicate with us. That is our smallest prayer. Our biggest prayer, of course, is that he will be completely healed right now. And although the likelihood of that happening is remote, with God, ALL things are possible!
