Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/18/19

COURAGE   noun:   a quality of spirit that enables you to face danger of pain without showing fear

When Ryan first got injured and was at George Mark, we took him into a large hot tub (not too hot) they had, and he seemed to enjoy it very much. When we made accommodations for him here at home, we installed a hot tub and a lift to get him into it, but I haven’t had the courage to put him in. I need to muster up the courage, because I know he would like it, just as he did at George Mark.

Lord, Please give me courage. Amen

The word swims upside down is still swims…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/17/19

I don’t know why I’m even posting anything tonight, because after a day of celebrating St. Patty’s Day, everything is going to be jibberish…So, you ask, what’s the difference from any other post?? Twoshay!

According to a certain whatever you call it (based on the first letter of your first name followed by your birth month), Ryan’s Leprechaun name is: Restless O’Lucky…Hmmm, don’t know what to make of it…

Why wasn’t Jesus born in Ireland?
He couldn’t find 3 wise men or a virgin. (Hey wait! I’m Irish. Oh, I guess this confirms the thing about finding no wise men. Doh!)

Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Irish Who?
Irish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Hope y’all celebrated the day on and with purpose…as you should every day…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/16/19

Ryan had a rough day today. The weather warmed up outside, and Ryan warmed up along with it. A few fever and allergy meds later, and he’s feeling a lot better, but he’s not out of the woods yet. I know he will be soon, though, because our prayers WILL be answered in his favor…by His favor…

Please readjust Ryan’s body back to normal in every way. Thank you.

Thank you all for praying this prayer with us…xoxo

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/15/19

With the exception of Wednesday, Ryan has been very alert this week. It’s been encouraging to get good reports from the gal who has been working with him to test his responsiveness. Hopefully, he’ll be alert tomorrow when we host the girls volleyball team from Cal State East Bay. He’s gonna like the ratio of single women to single men…

Is it just me, or are the days/weeks getting shorter? Wasn’t Valentine’s Day just a couple of weeks ago? I’d better get some charcoal the next time I go shopping so I’m ready for July 4th…

Boycott shampoo! Demand the REAL poo!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/14/19

I don’t think I could ever work in a factory, especially if it has something to do with assembly…that is, unless it was a complete necessity for survival. The same thing, day in and day out would get boring quickly. One would think that watching Ryan day in and day out would get boring as well, but it’s quite the opposite. Even though the routine’s the same, I enjoy looking after him, and to dream of him one day fully restored. I may have to wait until heaven, but until my last breath, I’ll continue to pray for his healing here on earth. This very second, or tomorrow would be nice…

Lord, Please continue to show me what you’re accomplishing through Ryan. Amen

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/12/19

Many of you have asked about Ryan’s new program/therapy. This is not a new therapy, but an old one that we’re really controlling this time. Before, it was done randomly throughout the week, and we weren’t really keeping track of the results. The results either happen or don’t happen, and they happen at certain times. What we’re doing is a series of what I call sensory perception tests; tests of smell, sight, hearing, etc. For example, we’ll put random fragrances (essential oils, etc.) in front of his nose and note how he reacts. We’ll ask him to look at different colored objects to see if he prefers one over another. Last week we showed him some dull colors and some shiny colors, and he seemed to be interested in the shiny colors more so than the dull ones. I mean, who isn’t attracted to shiny things? Anyway, all of his responses, whether positive or negative, are now being documented so we can evaluate them over a period of time to determine whether it is beneficial to purchase some sort of technological device (device TBD) to try to communicate with him. There’s a lot of new technology out there that is capable of communication by the slightest movement of say a finger, or eye blink, etc. The hope and prayer is that Ryan will have something consistent that could possibly be a way for him to communicate with us. That is our smallest prayer. Our biggest prayer, of course, is that he will be completely healed right now. And although the likelihood of that happening is remote, with God, ALL things are possible!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/11/19

Ryan’s doing well. Me, not so much. Feel something coming on, so I’m going to bed early to see if I can sleep it off. Oh wait! There’s no amount of sleep that’ll cure what I’ve got. Y’all can fill in the blank with whatever you think I’ve got…

Anyway, it was a beautifully sunny day today. Started out a bit cold, at a whopping 34 degrees, but eventually warmed up to the mid to upper 60’s. We had all the shades up in Ryan’s room so he could enjoy God’s creation. I really hope he’s not tormented by the view…kind of like prisoners on Alcatraz who had a view of the city. That’s one of my biggest concerns; that he’s at peace (enjoys the view) and not tormented…He certainly looks at peace. Praise the Lord for that!

Lord, We thank you that you’re watching over Ryan, and are in the process of healing him. Amen

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/10/19

I went to bed early last night, and forgot to post. I even forgot it was daylight saving time, and that an hour would be lost. I don’t like daylight saving time, and really don’t like forgetting. Sorry, I forgot where I’m going with this…

Thank God for technology that automatically sets my clocks/alarms! Even though we lost an hour (did we really lose an hour…I think not), Ryan and I made the most of the day. We really didn’t notice, because today was just like any other day…A day the Lord made! And, it was good…despite the Warriors losing to the Suns. Speaking of technology: I got this new phone (an iPhone) and discovered Bitmoji. I made myself a Bitmojian (don’t really know any Bitmonese and, quite frankly, couldn’t care less). Anyway, my Bitmorph doesn’t look anything like me. Hey, why not give myself hair…and a better physique…and teeth…and pretty eyes?? Ah, but God knows my heart…

Psalm 139:23-24   God, see what is in my heart. Know what is there. Put me to the test. Know what I’m thinking. See if there’s anything in my life you don’t like. Help me live in the way that is always right.

Oh! At least my car clock is correct again!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 3/8/19

Great moments turned into great days turned into a great week! I hope y’all had the same experience as we did in the Buchanan house. This is the week the Lord made. We’re rejoicing and being glad in it. And, we’ll be rejoicing tomorrow and the next day and the next and the next infinity!!

“I’m doing crunches twice a day now. Captain in the morning and Nestle in the afternoon.”

“After all the eating I’ve done this winter, I’m happy to report my flip-flops still fit.”

Oh! Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward this weekend!

“The hour we lose this weekend was the one I was planning to go to the gym.”

Laughter is good for the soul…
