RMW 5/31/19

Tomorrow is a big day for Ryan, so he went to sleep early (around 10 P.M. tonight). I would have taken a picture, but as soon as I went to take one, he woke up. Yep! He’s still a young man who can party all night and right into tomorrow. I wish I could keep up with him…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/30/19

It was nice seeing Ryan all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed throughout my shift today. He was smiling, and actually laughed a couple of times. One would usually smirk at someone who is laughing off in their own world; if you know what I mean, but it’s different when Ryan does it…again, if you know what I mean. It’s quite nice to hear. I think we all need to laugh a lot more…even if it is off in our own world. Who cares if people smirk? When you really think about it, if you’re off in your own world, you probably don’t have the mentally capacity to really care anyway…

My wife said I never listen to her, or something like that…

Prince (May he rest in peace), changed his name to a symbol. Target dropped it’s name, and identify now as just the symbol. Tonight, I’ve reduced Ryan’s Miracle Watch to its acronym…not quite a symbol, but close. It’s not going to be a permanent thing, mind you. I’m just being lazy tonight; although looking back, I should have just written Ryan’s Miracle Watch, because I would have used far less letters than I am in writing this explanation about it. Sometimes, I just don’t think things through. Oh well…

Ryan’s morning started out a bit rough (roughly?). He had a seizure, which subsided 25 minutes after giving him one of his “breakthrough” meds. Occasionally, despite the regimen of seizure meds he’s on, Ryan will have a seizure, also known as a breakthrough seizure. When this happens, a different seizure med is given. Anyway, he settled down, and was a perfect young man for the rest of today. Thank you Lord for comforting my son!

Do you like hot dogs? How about pulled pork? These are just two of the delectable that will be served at Ryan’s party this Saturday. Please bring your appetites with you, because as always we’re going to have way more food than people, and I don’t want to be eating hot dogs up until Christmas…which, by the way, is only 210 days away. I know, y’all think I should be a participant on Jeopardy now because I just rattled that off. The reality is I Googled it. And, unless Jeopardy changes its rules to allow participants to Google answers (or correctly speaking “answers in the form of a question”) while they play, then I won’t be appearing anytime soon…

Please pray for the safety of people all across the country who are experiencing bad weather…tornados, heavy rainfall, etc.

Isaiah 41:10   Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Please wrap your loving arms around those in the midst of turbulent weather, and grant them peace and comfort. Your will be done!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/27/19

I’ve been up in the mountains…again with the slowest internet on the planet. Therefore, no posts, no FB, no nothing…Not a bad life…

Ryan was in the capable hands of his mother, his old nurses (not age-wise, although I guess they are somewhat old) and his new nurse, who has indicated he’d like to take all of the open shifts. Praise God for His provision…especially where Ryan is concerned. Thank you all for praying!

So, Ryan has been doing well and is excited about his party this coming Saturday. It’s a costume party (not really), so come dressed in your favorite costume (not really). Just come dressed…or not…

Have a great week on purpose!!

Just a reminder about Ryan’s Annual Open House Birthday Bash!!

When:   Saturday, June 1 from 2:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M

Where:   Ryan’s House

Why:   Because it’s Ryan’s birthday, and he’s a great guy!

What:  Do you really need to ask?

Ryan would love to see you, even if it’s just for a minute, so please stop by!

Disclaimer: If you show up outside of the posted business hours, bring a set of chef’s knives, a broom and non-latex gloves…you’ll enjoy the activity of set-up/cleaning up…water out of the hose will be the only beverage available…In fact, it’ll probably be the only thing available…

So, to recap: Go back to the top of the page and read it again…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/23/19

Got to spend the entire day with Ryan; well, 16 hours of it anyway. Good news! A new nurse will be working this Saturday and Sunday during the afternoon shift. Hopefully, he’ll like the gig, and will want to stay on permanently. Please pray that he does…like the gig, that is. What’s not to like?

Ryan and I are listening to ambient rain sounds on YouTube. He’s been a bit restless the past several hours, so I’m hoping this will help him relax…like it’s been helping (or hindering) me. I can barely keep my eyes open. Not really…I can go a couple more days without sleep if I need to. Here’s to hoping I don’t need to. A couple hundred pushups oughta help stave off the sleeps…be back in a few…

Okay, I’m back. Only managed to do one. No, not one hundred, just one. I didn’t want to wake Ryan. Sure, like that’s the real reason…

ME: (sobbing my heart out, eyes swollen, nose red)…I can’t see you anymore…I am not going to let you hurt me like this again!

TRAINER: It was a push up. You did one push up.

I just had a physical. The doctor said, “Don’t eat anything fatty.” I said, “Like bacon and burgers.” He said, “No fatty, don’t eat anything!”

Last one:

I will never be over the hill. I’m to tired to climb it!

Bah duh bum…Thanks for listening. Goodnight y’all! ZZZzzz

Ecclesiastes 3:1   “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”

God has ordained seasons and cycles in our lives. Sometimes, when our dreams aren’t coming to pass on our timetable, we can be tempted to get frustrated. But we have to be careful not to allow our attitude to keep us from moving forward. Understand that in God’s kingdom, every season is not harvest. Every season is not springtime, with beautiful flowers, gorgeous sunshine and cool breezes. There are plowing seasons, planting seasons and watering seasons. Sure, we would love for every season to be a time of increase, but without the other seasons, we wouldn’t be prepared for promotion. You have to choose to rejoice today. God has given you not only the grace to endure this season but to enjoy the season. When you’re content, you see each day as a gift, appreciate the people in your lives, and are grateful for what God has given you. That is not only developing your character, but you’re passing the test. You will come out of winter and into your springtime.

A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for Your faithfulness in all seasons of my life. I trust that my time is coming, and I choose to remain faithful. I submit my ways to You today and trust that You have the best plan for my life. I love You and praise Your Name today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

Thank you Stacie!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/21/19

As long as I have breath, I will never give up faith that Ryan will be healed while on this earth…

2 Chronicles 15:7   But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Galations 6:9   Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Mark 10:27   Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 5/20/19

I enjoyed watching Ryan today, even though he slept through most of my shift. I won’t mind if we don’t get any nurses right away…just means I get to watch him more, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all…but keep praying for more nurses anyway…

“I heard today that they’re not going to make yard sticks any longer.”

How ’bout them Warriors?!?! Can y’all say sweep? Speaking of sweeping…will someone please remind me I have to sweep Ryan’s room tomorrow?
