BRICK noun: rectangular block of clay baked by the sun or in a kiln; used as a building or paving material
You’ve most likely heard the phrase, “It hit me like a ton of bricks” or something to that effect. I imagine that would hurt like crazy. Actually, I imagine getting hit with a ton of anything would hurt like crazy…that is, if you lived to feel the pain. This phrase, however, is usually a metaphor meaning to profoundly become aware of. Well, the reason for this prologue is this: As I was filling a container with water for the purpose of hourly hydration for Ryan (hourly hydration is important to ward off UTI’s, amongst other things), it hit me how much our family is blessed to have water, and clean water at that, readily available through faucets both inside and outside of our home. Conversely, there are many people in this world who don’t have access to water, yet alone clean water, and many have to travel some distance to get it. There are things I can imagine, and things I cannot. Not having access to clean water is something I cannot.
Thank you Lord for clean water to hydrate my son, and for the medicine you provide, and for our home, and for a nearby hospital and the resources to pay for whatever our needs are, and for transportation to get places, and for…WE HAVE SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!!
PS – Thank you for not letting a ton of anything hit me literally…
Had a bit of a rough start this morning: Ryan had a mild seizure. A few pills, and he was back to his sleepy self. Disaster avoided. The rest of the day went without a hitch…
I feel so powerless/helpless sometimes…
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL THE AMAZING FATHERS OUT THEIY’RE!!!
Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.
Proverbs 3:11-12 My child, when the Lord God speaks to you, never take his words lightly, and never be upset when he corrects you. For the Father’s discipline comes only from his passionate love and pleasure for you. Even when it seems like his correction is harsh, it’s still better than any father on earth gives to his child.
Well, the Warriors gave it their best shot tonight, only to come up a bit short. Hats off and congratulations to the Toronto Raptors!
As a spectator, I don’t concern myself with wins and losses, but truly believe it’s about how the game is played. A good nail biter of a game is a good game; win or lose. After all, to me it’s merely entertainment. And what better way to be entertained than to be kept on the edge of my seat throughout? I’m more concerned about the well-being of the people who play it. Their physical and, more importantly, their spiritual well-being. That said, I hope Clay and KD, and any other players in the league who have suffered an injury, heal quickly and completely, so they can get back to the thing/s they love to do. And (again, more importantly), that they’ll draw close to God.
Tomorrow (Lord willing) is another day. Let’s look for God working in each and every moment, whether we’re winning or losing. Let’s pray for healing, salvation, peace, comfort and _________________ (You fill in the blank) for those in our lives that need it. Asking God to move in someone else’s life is one of the nicest things you can do for someone. Let’s do some nice things…a lot of them.
Thank you for praying for Ryan all these years. We appreciate your kindness more than you will ever know!
You know when you’re sick and have a fever for a spell (period of time)? You take some medicine and eventually the fever breaks; goes back to a tolerable state. Well, I’m not sure what kind of medicine our weather got today, if any, but the fever broke. In other words, the temp went from 101 yesterday to 85 today; which is a lot more tolerable than the century mark or above. Okay, that was dumb…
What’s also dumb is that I worry about drastic changes in temperature, because it’s typically during such phenomena that Ryan gets sick; which today he did not. Praise God he was fine!
Deuteronomy 31:6 Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
Internet went out before I could get a post in. It seems to happen whenever a heat wave comes around (98 was yesterday’s high).
Yesterday, Ryan would have withered away to nothing had he not weathered the weather, whether or not he knew he was weathering it. Today, he’s off to see the Withered in his dreams, as he is sound asleep…
THEIYR’RE That oughta satisfy the way it’s used…Take that grammar police!
DEVOTE verb: give entirely to a specific person, activity, or cause
Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
I am devoted to praying for Ryan’s complete recovery. And, I will be thankful for God’s blessings as I watch for it…
You can always tell when it’s been a hot day (which, it was today) when it’s 80+ degrees outside at 7:30 in the evening. Tomorrow’s supposed to be hotter: in the low to mid 90’s. Welcome summer!
Ryan slept throughout my shift; not an uncommon occurrence lately. At least he didn’t have a seizure today. Praise God!
Wait!! No way!! Creature Features just came on!! I haven’t seen CF in decades. Yes, decades! There’s an hour left on my shift (the afternoon nurse had to leave at 8 this evening, so I get to watch Ryan until 11), so I’m going to watch…with my hands ready to cover my eyes in case there’s anything scary. Yep, I’m a fraidy cat. Wake up Ryan! You’ve got to watch with me and keep me safe!
Ryan had a small seizure at the start of my shift today. It only lasted 5-6 minutes or so. He’s had three or four ever since he’s come back from the hospital on April 22. Hopefully, they won’t become a regular thing, or we’ll have to increase one of his meds again…and we really don’t want to have to do that. We’ll give it another month or so, and see what happens. Please pray the seizures go away completely, and we can start reducing (gradually) another med…
Other than that, it was a great day! Tomorrow is supposed to be about 15 degrees hotter than it was today (in the mid to upper 80’s), and the two that follow…even hotter. Oh no!! Global warming is happening!! Yeah, it’s called summer…
Proverbs 3:19-20 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. By His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies drip with dew.
Yep, God controls the weather…
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
“Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit.”
