MATTHEW 12:36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.
“Think before you speak” and “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” were two phrases Janine and I grew up with, and that we tried to instill in our boys throughout their childhoods. I wonder if some of the shootings that have occurred, mass or otherwise, could have been prevented if someone/s would have SIMPLY spoken a kind word or two to the perpetrators while they were growing up? I encourage you/me to consider saying something kind to whomever we come across; and especially those who look like they could use a tender word and/or a hug. Those words may help save lives…and souls…
Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
1 Thessalonians 5:11a Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Job 4:4 Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, and you have made firm the feeble knees.
Psalm 19:14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
EPHESIANS 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
