Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/30/19

Enough good things can’t be said about the Onan Cummings generator Ryan has for backup power to his room…as well as our kitchen, and other important areas. The generator operated for 3.5 days without a hiccup and was still going strong when the power eventually came back on yesterday afternoon. There was a fire in Lafayette (just 4 miles away from our house) that, with high winds, could have wreaked much more havoc than it actually did. it so happened fire crews showed up and put out the fire quickly. Another disaster avoided. Ryan’s night nurse has been out for the past three nights, so I’ve had the pleasure of covering her shifts to watch Ryan. Even though I was gone for a couple of weeks, he’s already tired of seeing me…again.

Despite all the unusual things happening (both seen and unseen), we’ve been kept from harm. Thank you for your continued prayers for Ryan, and for surrounding us with your prayers. They really do unleash God’s protection around us.

Tomorrow’s another day (Lord willing). Make sure to look for God’s miracles in every situation…and be amazed!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/29/19

The Monday before we left for China, the nursing agency found a nurse to cover my shifts. The power went out the day we left for China. Fortunately, I was able to get Ryan’s backup generator running the day before. When we got to China, we learned we didn’t have the internet, Facebook, etc., and therefore communication back home was going to be challenging, because with the power out, our house didn’t have WiFi and/or cell service. On top of that, what I thought was a land-line phone, turned out to be WiFi based as well. A few days into our trip, we learned there was an earthquake in the area, followed by another a couple of days later.

With all this going on (the devil was hard at work trying to distract), however, I was at peace knowing God had everything under control; that He would take care of Ryan…His child. And, despite having to eat Chinese food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we had a pretty good time. The next time I have to eat Chinese food will be too soon…

Upon our return, we found Ryan had been well-taken care of and provided for. Praise God for His caring grace and love!

PS – The power has been out in our area since last Saturday, and it wasn’t until this afternoon that it came back on, bringing with it the ability to connect with the outside world…and Netflix…once more! I feel all-knowing again, now that I can look things up on the internet. Ha ha…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/24/19

So happy to be back from vacation and to see our boy. He behaved while we were away, and for that he’ll be rewarded…just as all good children should be. I’ll leave it at that for now, as the bed beckons in order to ward off jet lag…and prevent lack-of-sleep ugliness…Oops, too late for that!!

Thank you all for praying for Ryan while we were away! God honored your prayers…

P.S. – The next time I eat Chinese food will be too soon…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/8/19

I thought I’d get this in before PG&E turns off the power and all heck breaks loose. It’s supposed to be turned off at our house around midnight tonight and until Thursday afternoon. It’s a good thing we’ve got a working back-up generator; which I just turned on for the first time in a couple of years. Whew! For those of you who’ll be affected, I hope you’ve prepared adequately…and that you purchased plenty of stock in generator companies…

Janine and I will be on vacation beginning this Thursday and back on October 23. We’ll be in China, and I’m not bringing my computer, so y’all will get a much needed break from my psycho-babble for a couple of weeks. While I do look forward to getting away, it’s going to be difficult not seeing Ryan every day. I know I’m not supposed to worry about him (or anything for that matter), but I won’t be able to help it…I’m not that strong…

Leave it to the nursing agency to wait until the 13th hour to come through with a nurse to cover my shifts while we’re away. I had given them 3-4 months advance notice, but they didn’t come up with anyone until this past Monday. Again, whew!! So, Ryan’s got round-the-clock coverage with his grandparents keeping a close eye on things. Praise God!!

Will you please pray extra hard for Ryan while we’re gone? Thank you!!

Have a wonderful couple of weeks on and with purpose!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/7/19

You know you’re ugly when you walk into a haunted house and come out with an application…That’s what I get for not getting enough sleep…and for not shaving for a few days…

Speaking of shaves: Ryan’s nurses keep him looking sharp by shaving him a few times a week. That kid is so pampered…and handsome…

Speaking of handsome:

Yesterday’s extra dose of medicine worked, because Ryan had a much better day today. Please pray for continued nonsicknesseuforium (yes, it’s a word). Tomorrow’s a new day…that’s if the Lord wills another day…If not, we’ll see y’all in heaven…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 10/5/19

Got a bit warm today (a dramatic departure from the Fall temps we’ve been experiencing), and it’s supposed to stay warm for the next few days. Some would think since I’m talking about the weather, that I’m shallow (in the sha-la-la-la low, in the sha-la-la-la-la low…sans Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper), and don’t have much else to talk about. Truth is, I’m talking about the weather because as those who’ve been following along know, any dramatic changes in the weather cause Ryan varying degrees of discomfort. Well, today was no exception, because Ryan has had an increased temp, and other symptoms (elevated heart rate, rosy-red cheeks, etc.) that could potentially lead to the flu…or worse. Hopefully, a little Motrin will eliminate the symptoms and any possibility of him getting sicker. Please pray accordingly. Thank you. xoxox
