Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/30/20

Looks like we’ll be hunkering down for another month, at least. I say whatever it takes to keep the vulnerable safe is okay by me. As a parent, it’s my natural instinct to protect my children, so this “new” normal…or whatever it will be…really won’t change that instinct. The only thing that will really change (at least for the near future) is I’ll be wearing a mask, which will be of a welcome benefit to those who would otherwise have to look at this ugly mug.

Psalm 5:11   But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

As you know, we check Ryan’s stats (temperature, oxygen saturation level and pulse rate) on the hour, every hour. Just a few short weeks ago, his stat levels weren’t so good, as he was having a difficult time adjusting to the new spring weather and pollen in the air. He has to be given supplemental oxygen for low O2 sat levels, Tylenol for his high temps, and Metoprolol to slow the pace of his heart rate. It was a scary time to go through for all of us; especially with this pandemic looming over him. Well, I am happy to say, that since recovering from those brutal few days of pain and suffering, and even with this second round of spring with more pollen in the air, his stat levels have been amazing; so much so, he’s outperforming my levels; proof he’s gotten all the good genes from his mother’s side of the family…

Way to go Ryan!!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/27/20

There’s something about the sound of a bug zapper that makes me smile.

The first question I’m going to ask God when I get to Heaven is, “For what purpose did you create mosquitos?” That is, if I make it into Heaven. I’m afraid killing this particular creation of God’s might cancel my ticket.

Still, there’s something about the sound of a bug zapper that makes me smile.

Romans 3:23   For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Please forgive me Lord…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/26/20

SOON   adverb:   in the near future

Revelation 22:12   Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

END   noun:   the point in time at which something stops/ends

1 Peter 4:7   The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

Mark 13:33-37    Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’

ETERNITY   noun:   time without end

John 6:40   For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.

What does “the near future” mean in terms of eternity/infinity? Is soon even relevant if time never ends?

Is anybody out there? Feels like we’re in a Sci-Fi movie. Go outside and nobody’s around. At least the birds are chirping. And, the mosquitos are still alive. Doh!

Was in the mid-to-upper 80’s; a beautiful day. Always is…beautiful, that is. Because it’s a day the Lord has made. And, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Hope y’all had a great day as well…

I put up a world map and gave my wife a dart. Wherever you hit will be our vacation spot when this is over. Looks like we’ll be spending two weeks behind the refrigerator.

I invented a new word. Plagiarism

Why can’t you explain things to kleptomaniacs? Because they always take things literally.

Okay, last one.

Happy Friday Everybody! We hope you have a wonderful weekend on purpose! Laughter is good for the soul…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 4/22/20

Please pray for one of our nurses. He’s originally from Nigeria, and couple of days ago he learned that one of his cousins passed away from the Coronavirus, and he’s taking it pretty hard; particularly because several weeks back as the US was beginning to shelter-in-place, he tried warning his family back there to take the COVID pandemic seriously. At the time, Nigeria was ignoring the warnings, and subsequently, his family didn’t think it was anything to be concerned about. They’re concerned about it now, but only because they’ve witnessed it’s devastation first-hand. Anyway, please pray for Anthony…Ryan’s nurse…for his peace of mind, and comfort. Thank you.

Lord, Please lay your comforting hand upon Anthony’s heart and give him peace. Amen

As most of you know, I’m a partner in The Original Mels Diner restaurant chain, with 20+ units. During this pandemic, shelter-in-place, season, our small business is missing out on potential income of $1MM per week. I say potential, because while our average weekly income is $1MM (or used to be prior to), there are never any guarantees.

What I am concerned about is the safety and health of my family and friends, and the world’s population in general. And especially, the health and safety of Ryan, who happens to have a compromised immune system because of his condition. It goes without sayin, if Ryan catches this virus…

What good is money and/or any material things if you are not healthy enough, or even dead, to enjoy them? Answer: They’re not!

The only thing of value is life. And if you value yours and the lives of others around you, you will do your best to prevent the spread of an incredibly dangerous virus that will be a major problem until a vaccine is available; and even then, it’ll be a problem.

The phrase “do unto others” comes to mind. Be aware of your actions. Make good decisions. Be kind. Don’t take risks…at least not this one…Be grateful God gave you life. Cherish life. Cherish life. Cherish life…

Matthew 19:24   Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

Be concerned not only about your life here on earth, but also about your eternal life…

Psalm 39:1-7   I said, I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked. So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; my heart grew hot within me.
While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue. Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.
