Ryan and I just got done watching the pilot episode of Designated Survivor (DS) on Netflix; a story about who succeeds the president should he and other members of congress, etc. be, for lack of better terminology, wiped out suddenly. In the opening 10 minutes or so of the episode, a bomb blows up the Capitol, along with the president and the entire congress, and the DS(played by Kiefer Southerland) instantaneously becomes POTUS. I doubt Kiefer woke up that morning thinking his life was going to be much different at the end of the day; much less that he was going to become POTUS. It got me thinking about how things can, and often do, change in an instant. I certainly didn’t wake up on the Saturday some 9+ years ago, thinking my life was going to be drastically different at the end of the day, but it was. So, how does one deal with something like that? I don’t know about you, but I turn my eyes upward towards God, and ask him to give me strength and wisdom and understanding and comfort and peace and love and…let’s just say I ask for a lot. And, by His grace He pours out those things abundantly. My life, our lives, changed in an instant, and they haven’t been the same since. And, they continue to change and unfold. And, we ebb and flow with the tide, so to speak. Thankfully, God has shown me what He’s doing through Ryan’s circumstance. I praise Him for that. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for everybody…but perhaps it’s because they don’t ask. I encourage you, when change happens (he operative word being when), to ask God for the things I mentioned above, and hopefully He will allow you (as He has me) to see what He’s doing. Keep the faith and give Him praise…ALWAYS!
Beautifully said.
