Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/12/19

You know when you’re sick and have a fever for a spell (period of time)? You take some medicine and eventually the fever breaks; goes back to a tolerable state. Well, I’m not sure what kind of medicine our weather got today, if any, but the fever broke. In other words, the temp went from 101 yesterday to 85 today; which is a lot more tolerable than the century mark or above. Okay, that was dumb…

What’s also dumb is that I worry about drastic changes in temperature, because it’s typically during such phenomena that Ryan gets sick; which today he did not. Praise God he was fine!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/11/19

Internet went out before I could get a post in. It seems to happen whenever a heat wave comes around (98 was yesterday’s high).

Yesterday, Ryan would have withered away to nothing had he not weathered the weather, whether or not he knew he was weathering it. Today, he’s off to see the Withered in his dreams, as he is sound asleep…

THEIYR’RE   That oughta satisfy the way it’s used…Take that grammar police!

I am devoted to praying for Ryan’s complete recovery. And, I will be thankful for God’s blessings as I watch for it…


Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/8/19

You can always tell when it’s been a hot day (which, it was today) when it’s 80+ degrees outside at 7:30 in the evening. Tomorrow’s supposed to be hotter: in the low to mid 90’s. Welcome summer!

Ryan slept throughout my shift; not an uncommon occurrence lately. At least he didn’t have a seizure today. Praise God!

Wait!! No way!! Creature Features just came on!! I haven’t seen CF in decades. Yes, decades! There’s an hour left on my shift (the afternoon nurse had to leave at 8 this evening, so I get to watch Ryan until 11), so I’m going to watch…with my hands ready to cover my eyes in case there’s anything scary. Yep, I’m a fraidy cat. Wake up Ryan! You’ve got to watch with me and keep me safe!

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/7/19

Ryan had a small seizure at the start of my shift today. It only lasted 5-6 minutes or so. He’s had three or four ever since he’s come back from the hospital on April 22. Hopefully, they won’t become a regular thing, or we’ll have to increase one of his meds again…and we really don’t want to have to do that. We’ll give it another month or so, and see what happens. Please pray the seizures go away completely, and we can start reducing (gradually) another med…

Other than that, it was a great day! Tomorrow is supposed to be about 15 degrees hotter than it was today (in the mid to upper 80’s), and the two that follow…even hotter. Oh no!! Global warming is happening!! Yeah, it’s called summer…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/5/19

Here’s the verse Ryan and I memorized today:

2 Thessalonians 1:11   We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

God continues to fulfill Ryan’s good purpose prompted by his faith nearly eight years ago, when he uttered the words, “I just want to touch one person for Christ today.”

And, I’m so grateful to be able to see it on a daily basis…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/4/19

Summer has finally arrived. It was a scorcher today. Ryan and I took refuge in his room; the only one in our house with AC. Felt good. I’ve got a feeling the electricity bill is going to be a big one this month. It’s a good thing someone else pays that bill…ha ha!

Speaking of heat:

Remember Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego? God didn’t put out the fire. He just put Jesus in there with them. It’s not about God putting out your fires, rather it’s about who is in there with you…

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/3/19

As Ryan and I continue to read the Bible from cover-to-cover for the second time, we’re beginning to understand the sequence of history, etc. We’ll look at each other and say, “Oh yeah! I remember that now!” and “I think I know what happens next.” We’re so proud of ourselves…

I often think back to my childhood day (I know, since I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast this morning, how could I possibly think back to my childhood days?) in children’s church; those days when I was encouraged to memorize Bible verses. I’d be given a single verse or passage every Sunday, and be expected to recite it from memory the next. As I grew older, I stopped memorizing verses, and have long since forgotten many of them. If only I had kept up the practice (perhaps discipline is a better word), by now I may have committed the entire Bible to memory. Probably not, but I’d like to think so. Well, I’ve heard people spew phrases out like “there’s no time like the present to start something new”, “what are you waiting for”, and “today is the first day of the rest of your life”, and other phrases that elude to some similar meaning. Therefore, starting now, I think I’ll take a lesson from my childhood and do my best to memorize a verse or two each day.

John 11:35   Jesus wept.

At this rate, I’ll be able to recite the entirety of God’s word in several hundred years. Don’t you doubt me for a moment! Methuselah lived 969 years.

Ryan’s Miracle Watch 6/2/19

Ryan was worn out from the festivities of yesterday…as were the rest of us. After minimal cleanup, we lounged around to recharge our batteries. At my age, it’ll take more than a day, but I’m not complaining? A HUGE THANK YOU to those who came in person to wish Ryan a happy birthday, as well as to those who sent notes and cards! We read each card/note to him last night…just after he blew out the candles on his cake (well, Jacob really blew them out). Speaking of Jacob: He went back to SoCal today, because he has to work tomorrow. It was nice to have him home, even if it was just for a day. Ryan was happy to see him.
